ARE YOU A PSYCHOLOGICALLY HEALTHY PERSON?

Instructions: Gordon Allport is one of the proponents of dispositional theories. In line with
this, you are given a task where you are going to assess yourself if you satisfy each criterion
set by Allport for what he considered a "Healthy Person" and provide justifications (brief
explanations) for each of them. You may include photos or any pieces of evidence to support
your answer for each criterion. You can be creative as you can. Enjoy!

Extension of the sense of self.

I like to keep myself engaged, especially when I participate in groups. Because of this, I was
unable to hold back my interest in sharing my skills, passions, and knowledge with others,
which caused me to join a variety of groups where members are empowered to collaborate
for a common goal.

(I love sharing God’s words; that is why I joined the youth ministry as a lector. I love dancing, which motivates
me to join dance groups. Lastly, it is very fulfilling for me as a psychology student to join a counseling session
with Veronica and our seniors with the goal of showing the students that they are heard and not alone.)

Warm relating of self to others.

I am the type of person who will approach someone despite the fact that we are not close,
so it is very easy for me to make friends. Along with my boyfriend, whom I consider my
constant, I have a large circle of friends that I also intend to consider as my family. They
usually define me as their "one call away" friend since I always make myself available
whenever they ask for guidance, particularly when they need another perspective to
ensure that their thoughts are valid. But they were unaware that I was the one who needed
them because they constantly serve as a motivational force for me, reminding me that I
am not fighting these battles alone. That is why I realize how important it is to be
surrounded by people to whom you can give your love genuinely.

Emotional security or self-acceptance.

I am aware of my value as a person, also my strengths and weaknesses, as well as the things
that make me happy and sad. Because of these, I consider myself someone who is self-aware.
It takes a lot of courage for me to recognize who I truly am and how to treat myself as such,
but as time passes, experiences help me come to terms with who I am now. Even though my
hair is messy, and my face is unexplainable, I usually express myself for who I truly am by
taking random images and videos since that is who I am behind those filters.

Realistic perceptions.
Honestly speaking, there are instances when I intend to listen to others because I need to
acquire other people's perspectives to satisfy my curiosity. However, I still tend to accept
things as they are and refrain from making any unfavorable remarks about them. As a
person, I am aware that I should not hold onto the idea that I should live a fantasy life in
order to escape the harsh realities that everyone must deal with. My parents once told me
to be realistic; we should acknowledge that difficulties are bound to arise and that it is up
to us to figure out how to handle them. With that advice in mind, I relied on maintaining
an objective viewpoint.

(The pictures below are some realistic viewpoints

on how I see life: life requires hard work.)

Insight and humor.

My friends love how I define life's difficulties positively. I usually tell myself things like,
"Time and days will pass." "Problems are there, but what we should look forward to is
what will happen after we overcome problems." "Always look for the positive side of
every difficulty you are facing right now and make that as your motivation to continue."
etc. I am a very positive person, so difficulties are normal for me because what's
important to me is what lessons I will learn from them and, if so, what positive things I
will experience as a result. I am confident that I met the criteria because, as I complete
this task, I feel proud of the fact that I have already overcome several challenges and that
I keep an optimistic perspective on life. Yes, I struggle and cry, but I do not give up.

(The pictures below are some examples on how I

rant about problems in a humorous way.)
This picture only describes how I
overcome all the issues circulating
about me and my bf hehe.

Unifying philosophy of life.

"Live positively" and "Trust God for what he knows what's good for you" are some of my
life's quotations because I believe that in life, we need to be positive about what is going
to happen and that we shouldn't rush things to happen instead we should get along with
the present and be mindful for the future for you are the one who will create it.

(The pictures below are some examples of how I share my philosophy in life
with others and how I motivate myself by listening to my favorite song.)
