MIDTERM ORAL TASK

ABOUT THE TASK

• Topic: “Welcome to my home”
• Interaction: pair work/group work
• Timing:
- Pairs of students should talk for 3 minutes. Both students should speak for equal
amounts of time.
- Groups of three students should talk for 4.5 minutes. The three students should speak
for equal amounts of time.
• Deadline: As indicated in the course calendar
• Assessment criteria: Read the rubrics to check how your task will be graded.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE TASK

Talk together about your home.

- Talk about the characteristics and location of your home.

- Talk about which members of your family live with you.
- Describe your favorite room. Explain why it is your favorite.
- Show and describe a picture of your friends or family (a photo you have at home or in
your cell phone).

1. Use proper vocabulary and structures:

- Grammar: Verb to be, prepositions of place, possessive adjectives, possessive ’s
and s’, information questions with be, it is (statements and questions with short
answers)
- Vocabulary: greetings, introductions and goodbyes, family, adjectives to describe
people, numbers, rooms in a home, furniture
- Real-world strategies: Correct yourself; Ask about and say people’s ages; Ask about
words you do not understand.

2. Test your video works well before uploading it. If you use an external service like YouTube,
also test the link before posting it.

3. Submit your video. Read specific instructions about how to do it.

Note: If you use www.Youtube.com to make the video, change the video privacy setting to “unlisted” so
your teacher can view it but not strangers on the internet.
