Roach Instructions
Roach Instructions
Thank you for purchasing the ROACH 3D-printable kit. I hope you enjoy printing and building your
new model. In this document you will find information and tips about your model, the assembly
instructions, a listing of the parts you will need for any particular build and a tutorial on how to
light the model with LEDs.
The kit offers many options to build each model. There are four core variants:
• Technical – open-backed with a weapon mount
• Turreted – closed-back with a compact turret
• Pickup – open-backed like the Technical, but without a weapon mount
• Cargo – unarmed closed-back variant
Tips
• On FDM printers, all parts can be printed without supports, with two exceptions: the front
wheels (supports needed under the suspension arms) and turret-03 (supports needed
under the trunnions).
• There are pre-supported and hollowed parts provided for resin printers. These come in STL
and Chitubox format. The latter allows you to edit the supports to suit your particular
printer. This requires the Chitubox slicer, which can be downloaded for free here:
https://www.chitubox.com/en/download/chitubox-free
• Some parts come in two versions: optimised for FDM or resin (SLA) printers. These are
identified by the “-fdm” or “-sla” suffixes in the filename. No suffix means that the part is
for both printer types.
• The ATGM and gadgets pieces are snap-fit. They should stay in place without the use of
glue.
Assembly Instructions
These instructions show the steps for the FDM versions of parts. The steps for resin versions are
largely the same, just simpler, as some parts have already been combined together.
The front and back pieces come in two versions: regular and with openings for LEDs. Use the
version with openings if you are installing LEDs and the material you are printing with is opaque.
Otherwise use the regular version. It also has LEDs sockets, but they have lenses modelled over
them.

FDM only:
Pay attention to the orientation of the front
wheels. They are flattened at the base and in
the turn-left and turn-right versions they are
tilted, so there is a difference between the left
and right wheels. You can tell which is which by
the direction of the tire tread.
It's best to install the front and back wheels at
the same time, to ensure that they are level
with each other and the model sits on all four
without wobbling.

Note that the left and right wheels are not the
same. Mount them so that the spring/shock
absorber is at the back. The direction of the
tread should match the front wheels.

Parts Listing
Your model comes prepared with slots for LEDs in the front and rear lights. This tutorial goes
through the process of wiring them up into a circuit that's powered by a coin cell battery in the
base of the model.
Press all the wires into the cab, making sure the
(+) and (-) wires don't touch.
To find what resistors you will need for your LEDs, you can use a circuit designer like the one here:
