1. Looking back on my learning experiences, I can remember some scenarios that
happen to me that are extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic is when my mom saw my grades and she gave me an extra allowance as a reward for having good grades. In intrinsic is feeling a self satisfaction when I participate in class or contribute to group work. 2. Yes, for me extrinsic motivation can be necessary in some scenarios to encourage a person to achieve some goals. For example inside the classroom, extrinsic motivation can be helpful in motivating students to participate. Giving rewards can help students to focus on the lesson and engage in class. Extrinsic Motivation can be helpful for some people who don't have intrinsic motivation in class but still can be encouraged to participate through rewards. 3. Some of the people argue that using rewards puts students into the wrong message about learning. Maybe because they believe that rewards can make students focus only on getting the rewards rather than enjoying the learning process. Students may also lose interest in learning because they start to think that they’re only studying for the rewards rather than enjoying learning. It's important that we encourage our students to find joy and satisfaction in learning. 4. Among the four academic motivational components, Values will best describe me. Values reflect on my own views in life, interest, and maybe also goals. When my academic goals align with my values, I feel dedicated to do well in my studies and pursue my long term goals with passion.
