Jemma gunning

Drawing serves as the cornerstone of Jemma Gunning’s practice, with a focus eon intaglio
and lithography techniques. Intaglio, a printmaking method involving incising lines or
textures into a plate, and lithography, a process of printing from a flat surface treated so as to
repel the ink except where it is required for printing, offer gunning a nuanced way to depict
the complexity of her subjects. Through meticulous mark making and layering, she creates
prints that initially appear somber but gradually reveal narratives of life emerging amidst
decay.

Jemma Gunnings work revolves round post-industrial landscapes, where they explore the
process of nature reclaiming desolate landscapes. Urban exploration and documenting
architectural decline reconnects the present day to the past through drawing photographing
and producing prints .

Gunnings monochramtic works fit with my exploration of curve and straight in architecture,
as she creates great depth in her etchings through lines, bleaching, and painting.
