Work with the children to allocate characters and prepare a short performance. Discuss the
stage directions in advance and make sure the children understand how to follow the script.

(Aladdin is with a magician, who is pretending to

be his uncle.)

Narrator 1: Aladdin pulled, and the stone moved. Then, he saw

the top of a well. It was very dark inside.

Magician: Go down into the well. You will find a door. Go through
the door, and you will come to some caves. There will
be boxes full of gold and silver. Don’t touch them.

Aladdin: Why not?

Magician: Don’t ask questions!

In the caves, you will see a garden. There will be a
lamp in it. You can take things from the garden,
but bring me the lamp.

Narrator 2: Then, he gave a ring to Aladdin.

Magician: This will help you.

Narrator 1: Aladdin climbed down the well and went into the
dark caves. He saw the boxes, but he did not take

any of the gold.

Narrator 2: Aladdin walked into the garden. Every tree was full
of jewels! Then, he saw the lamp.

Narrator 1: Aladdin took as many jewels as he could carry.

Aladdin: I will come back. But first I must take this lamp to
my uncle.

Narrator 2: When Aladdin climbed to the top of the well, he saw

the magician.

Aladdin: Help me out of this well, please!

Magician: Give me the lamp first.

Aladdin: No!

Narrator 1: The magician was angry. He said some magic words,

and the stone moved over the well. Aladdin was
caught inside!

Narrator 2: Aladdin sat down in the dark cave and cried. Then, he
touched the magician’s ring.

Genie of the Ring: I am the genie of the ring. The ring is magic.
When you touch it with your finger, I will come to
help you. What do you want?

Narrator 1: Aladdin closed his eyes.

Aladdin: Please take me home.

Narrator 2: Aladdin opened his eyes. He was home!

Mother: Where have you been? There is nothing for us to eat.

Aladdin: I shall sell these jewels and this lamp.

Mother: That lamp is old. If I clean it, you will get more
money for it.

man suddenly appeared.

Genie of the I am the genie of the lamp. When you touch the lamp
Lamp: with your hand, I will come and help you.

Aladdin: Please bring us some gold.

Narrator 2: Suddenly, there were many beautiful gold plates.

Aladdin: I will sell these plates.

Narrator 1: Three years went past.

Aladdin became a handsome young man.
One day, Aladdin saw a princess, and he fell in love.

Aladdin: I want to marry her.

Narrator 2: Aladdin’s mother went to see the king.

Mother: My son wants to marry the princess.

King: He can only marry her if he is a rich man!

Narrator 1: Aladdin waited to hear his mother’s news. Then, he

went to find the princess.

Aladdin: I love you. I am going to the palace to speak to

your father.

Aladdin: Please take bags of gold to the king. Then, bring me

(to genie) expensive clothes and a beautiful horse. I am going
to the palace.

Narrator 2: Lots of people followed Aladdin to the palace.

The king looked inside the bags.

(The king looks in the bags.)
