Initial discussions regarding the issue of high turnover of employees were carried out with Dr

Stuti Trivedi, Corporate HR and Mr Ankit Chaurasia, Head of Sales Team. These discussions
highlighted following issues
(a) The turnover of employees in all departments was high but the undesirable
turnover was brought down by various HR initiatives as mentioned in part one of the
report.
(b) Exit interviews were not being conducted earlier and in the recent exit
interviews of employees from sales department the individual employees did not
reveal any points for improvement in the organisation.
(c) There have been regular interactions between the Management and Mr Ankit
Chaurasia, Head of Sales Team as well as HR Department however no reason for such
high turnover of employees could be established. Few days prior certain employees of
sales team had collectively met Mr Ashwin Trivedi President surveillance system
limited and voiced their concerns regarding certain issues.
(d) High rates of turnover from proposal team and marketing team were cause of
serious concern to the Sales Head as frequent recruiting and training of employees
was time consuming, difficult and imposing difficulties in function of the Sales
Department.
(e) No tangible inputs were offered to the Sales Head by the leaving employees
regarding causes of leaving the organisation other than availability of better job
prospects elsewhere.
(f) The secondary data pertaining to turnover employees available with the HR
Department of surveillance systems limited was reviewed. The department had only
recently begun exit interviews and employees had not divulged much relevant
information.
It has been highlighted that not much of data or information was available in the exit
interviews conducted earlier. This was possibly due to the reason that employees were
unwilling to answer questions or divulge information related to any underlying issues or
problems being faced in the organisations.
In view of limited secondary data, no definite reasons could be arrived at for high turnover of
employees from the sales department the usefulness of additional internal secondary data in
this case was limited due to its relevance accuracy and non-applicability of the data to current
situation of high turnover of employees from sales department.
On basis of qualitative interactions with Management and HR Department, analysis of
various literature included in chapter two of report, need to study primary data for assessing
the problem at hand it was decided that a qualitative research be conducted to provide
insights and understanding of the problem of high turnover employees in the sales
department.
For finding the reasons for the problem at hand only a direct approach to quality to research
would have sufficed. Focus group interview was considered as an option however due to
privacy issues unstructured nature of responses and difficulties in moderation and likelihood
of confidential and sensitive information depth interview was selected as the method for
obtaining qualitative data pertaining to the defined problem.
Over the balance duration of SIP one on one depth interviews were conducted with
employees of the sales department. An initial interaction with all the employees in the sales
team was facilitated by Dr Stuti Trivedi, Corporate HR wherein the purpose of the interview
and any fears due to loss of privacy were allayed.
The details of direct one on one depth interview with employees of Sales Team of Servilink
Systems Limited is placed as an Annexure to the report.
