A Land of Enigma: India

The long-lived tales of India’s history,

Can fill an hour’s library.

From the high mountains of snow,

To the banks of a river low.

The spice of life, the wealth of rich culture,

The people’s pride both young and old.

The stories of their struggles,

And the regal times of old.

The tales of their brave heroes,

And their strong-willed foes.

The tales of battles both won and lost,

Fought faith, honour, and loyalty to uphold.

The tales of the Mahabharata, and the Ramayana too.

The stories of the Pandavas, and their fight against Kauravas true.

The rise of the Mughals, and the Sultanates of yore,

The tales of their conquests, and the battles evermore.

And the tales of the partition,

Tearing apart the sacred land.

The hope of a new future,

Though the pain ran deep in the sand.

The tales of India’s history,

Are a journey worth taking,

And with a few short minutes,

We can truly start our journey of learning.
