Work in pairs. Choose a sentence and read it. Your partner should listen and do the action. Change
roles and repeat for the other sentences.
Can you think of any more nouns for each of these phrasal verbs?
The phrasal verbs in Exercise 3 take an object. Other phrasal verbs like ‘sit down’ and ‘stand up’ don’t
take an object (e.g. "John, please stand up!"). For phrasal verbs that take an object, there are normally
two possible positions where the object can go. If the object is a pronoun, there is normally only one
possible position. Study the table below.
