The number of Americans who are food insecure has increased over the recent years.

Due
to many things like lack of job opportunity, insufficient income, and poverty. This has caused a
variety of different issues and put many people at risk.

When trying to resolve the issues that come with food insecurity, an approach to justice
as equality will benefit society. Justice as equality is essential when everyone gets the same
amount of resources and same variety. If justice as equality was implemented to reduce food
insecurity, there would be no food desserts. Another approach to be taken would be justice as
fairness. In which this type of justice creates an equal chance for all classes, by evening
imbalances in social structures and favoring those who are least well off. By doing this, it would
knock out food insecurity by providing more adequate resources for those who are unable to
afford them, and supply assistance with purchasing these resources. We as a country should
endeavor to support the food insecure individuals of America to create a more fair, equal country
with the ability to unite as one.

Food insecurity has been a battle in America for many years. For many different reasons,
solving it isn't just an easy fix, because it can come in many ways because of a variety of causes.
It is shown that the lower income class is most affected by food insecurity. Those who receive
lower income are responsible for 44.2% of food insecure individuals. Whereas the middle-
income class is responsible for 18.9% and the upper for 10.8%. This information proves that all
classes are affected by food insecurity. The lowest class being affected the most is because of
lack of income that can support their needs for resources. Covid-19 is partially at fault for the
recent uprise in numbers. Covid-19 caused shortages across the world making it harder to import
goods. This led to the increase of prices in stores for basic groceries and goods. Covid-19 also
lead to many terminations of employment which caused a gap in pay for many Americans until
the pandemic was over and jobs were also needed.

Many Americans struggle on a day-to-day basis to make ends meet. For example, Neidra
Pontiac has been through many difficulties causing her family to become food insecure. Neidra
was diagnosed with M.S. causing her to be released from work. Since her husband had
previously been out of work for many previous years, they found themselves in a bind. Without
knowing what to do next, they soon began to have to rely on food stamps and monthly disability
payments until they found a way to subsist in other ways. Neidra’s story is a prime example of
how in most cases food insecurity is out of the person's control.

Although there is much data and reasoning to prove otherwise, there are still people out
there who believe that food insecurity is completely controlled and preventable by the individual.
They might bring up things such as drug abuse and how it is the individuals' fault that they
gained the addiction. Whereas in almost all cases this is false. Most would give up their addiction
in a heartbeat if it meant they would soon be able to live a sufficient life, but do not have the
resources to fight their growing addiction to find a way to stop and change the path of their life.
Food Insecurity affects America in many ways. It is a result of many different hardships
that each individual has had to face in their lifetime. There are many different stats, current
events, and anecdotes to support this. If there is not adequate help for those who are food
insecure or have fallen into poverty, it will only get worse, and the numbers will rise and could
end up generating a dire America in the future.
