Collecting data is integral part of business quality management system and can help in drawing

conclusion regarding the effectiveness of any process or product or service. Quoting final verdict
based on inaccurate data can lead into negative consequence, hence it is important to gauge the
accuracy and reliability of data collection procedures and tools

Here are some data collection methods/tools


1. Surveys
Surveys can be physical or digital questionnaires and can gather both quantitative and qualitative
feedback/ information from the audience. Through this feedback the organization can capture
voice of internal customer and external customers. Based on the scope of product or service to be
delivered the survey can be open to larger audience or specific to small targeted group (Cote,
2021b).

2. Observation
Observation can be performed through Apprenticing, Field observation. These types of data
collection method would require skilled person, those having domain skills and know what
parameters or which type of interaction will be part of observation scope. Qualitative and
Quantitative information gather through observation can be further used in improvising the
process or product quality (Cote, 2021b).

3. Forms
Forms are useful wile gathering qualitative data about user, specifically contact or demographic
information. This method is quite inexpensive and simple to implement (Cote, 2021b)
. Forms can be offline or online hosted via websites or circulated through mails.

4. Interviews
Data is collected via conducting, face to face or telephonic interaction. The Interviewer shall
prepare the questionnaire in advance and would note down all the responses received from the
interviewee. This form of data collection is effective for smaller group of audience and might be
time consuming based on the natures of questions included in questionnaire.
