Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each.
26 In trapezium ABCD, AB || CD, AB = 9 cm and CD = 12 cm. P and Q are the points 3
on AD and BC respectively such that AP:PD = BQ:QC = 1:2. Find PQ.
OR
Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the
other two sides in distinct points then the other two sides are divided in the
same ratio.

27 If the points A(4,3) and B(x,5) lie on the circle with centre O(2,3), find the value 3
of x.

28 Sum of the first n terms of an AP is 5n 2 − 3n . Find the AP and also find its 16th 3

32 When Amrita put oranges in some boxes, she observed that if she would put 20 5
oranges more in each box, then 3 boxes would be less required. But if she would
put 5 oranges less in each box, 1 more box will be required. Find the number of
boxes and total number of oranges.

33 A farmer connects a pipe of internal diameter 20 cm from a canal into a 5


cylindrical tank in his field, which is 10 m in diameter and 2 m deep. If water
flows through the pipe at the rate of 3 km/hr, in how much time will the tank be
filled?
OR
A decorative block as shown in the figure below, which is made of two solids, a
cube and a hemisphere. The base of the block is a cube with edge 6 cm, and the
hemisphere fixed on the top has a diameter of 4.2 cm.

(i) Find the total surface area of the block.


(ii) Find the volume of the block formed. (Use  = 22 / 7 )

34 A 1.2 m tall girl spots a balloon moving with the wind in a horizontal line at a 5
height of 88.2 m from the ground. The angle of elevation of the balloon from the
eyes of the girl at any instant is 60 0 . After some time (at the same side) the angle
of elevation reduces to 30 0 . Find the distance travelled by the balloon during the
interval.

The angles of depression of two consecutive kilometer post on a straight road

36 The state government revise fares from time to time based on various factors
such as inflation, fuel price, demand from various quarters etc. The government

etc.
The taxi charges in a city consist of a fixed charge together with the charge for
the distance covered. Study the following situations:
Situation 1: In city A, for a journey of 10 km, the charge paid is Rs 75 and for a
journey of 15 km, the charge paid is Rs 110.
Situation 2: In city B, for a journey of 8 km, the charge paid is Rs 91 and for a
journey of 14 km, the charge paid is Rs 145.
