Sydney and South Eastern Sydney Districts Single Persons Homelessness Support Service –
Mental Health

Introduction 200

Homelessness and mental health issues are one of the main public issues in Australia

and the two aspoects ae closely interrelated

Conclusion 200

The communication with clients is very important to understand the issues and areas

where help is needed. Additionally it also helps in establishing a trusting bond with the client.

Effective communication, effective knowledge and efficient support and care are imperative

in helping such individuals with complex needs. Case managers, social workers, clinicians

and nurses need to work in collaboration along with government agencies and international

organizations. This can help in strengthening the health care system of the country and avoid

financial loss due to disability. Readmissions in hospitals can also be prevented and a long-

term solution can be paved out. In this area nurses and social care workers play a significant

role as they are placed in a variety of setting and can connect with the clients and establish a

trusting relation along with treatment adherence. Thus, these mental health agencies address

an all-round care and support for the patients and help them access a holistic approach to

treatment.
