Experiment-1
Battray voltage & Battary charging
1-Theory:
The electrical specifications for the battery connector are shown in Table.
It consists of three terminals.
1. Battery +Ve.
2. BSI.
3. Ground.
Pin 1: Battery Voltage (VBATT): This is the supply Pin of the battery; it
supplies power to the system and also acts as a charging terminal.
Pin 2: Battery Size Indicator (BSI): The battery status/size is indicated by
a resistor inside the battery pack.
Pin 3: Ground (GND): This pin is directly connected to ground.

2-Requairments:
1.4G LTE Smart Phone TechBook
2. SIM card(s) of any 4G service provider supporting 4G LTE frequency
band
3. Power Supply for Scientech 2139 with Mains Cord
4. Hands free kit.

COMMUNICATIONS LAB 2
3-Operating mode:
4G Mobile Phone training system works in two operating
mode that can be selected by a Mode Selection Switch provided on the
TechBook at left side near Power connector.
1- Battery Mode (Switch Released): In this mode the TechBook operates with
battery supplied & battery can be charged.
2-Adaptor Mode (Switch Pressed): In this mode the TechBook operates on
external Power Supply.
For this connect Scientech 2139 Power supply with mains cord to TechBook.

4-Operating Condition:
1. Follow all the conditions as instructed in Experiment 1.
2. Check that all the Switch Faults should be in off position.

5-Procedure:
1. Once the TechBook is initially ready as per the set up given in
Experiment I and if it detects the 4G service provider network(s) with
sufficient network strength, further experiment can be done with this
TechBook as follows.
2. Observe the different voltages used for various sections as per the table given
below.

COMMUNICATIONS LAB 3
6-Disscuion:
The positive terminal (+) is the pin of the battery connector where the positive
terminal of the battery touches on it. It is also called vBat (Battery Voltage) pin.
While negative terminal (-) is the pin of the
battery connector where the negative terminal
of the battery touches on it. It is also called GND (Ground) pin.
BSI pin performs very important functions and
act as an interface between the Mobile phone and the Battery.

Experiment-2-
Power management unit
1-Theory:

Power supply management unit supplies the power to all the section of
the mobile phone. There are following Power Supply sections.

RF Power Supply: This supply is used in Transmitting/ Receiving section

of the mobile phone.

Logic Power Supply: This Power Supply section provides the Power
Supply for RTC, Alert VCC supply, Audio processor Power Supply, CPU
section, Memory section, SIM switcher section, User Interface section,
LCD display, Keypad LED indication etc.

On/Off circuit: This circuit is made up of series of transistors and

diodes, when on/off button is pushed, the battery supply is connected to
this circuit and disconnects when on/off button is released.

2-Requairments:
1.4G LTE Smart Phone TechBook
2. SIM card(s) of any 4G service provider supporting 4G LTE frequency
band
3. Power Supply for Scientech 2139 with Mains Cord
4. Hands free kit.

6-Disscuion:
Power management broadly refers to the management of power-related
activates in a mobile device, which include generation, storing,
distribution, conservation, and control of regulated voltages
required to operate the host mobile system. The power management unit
in mobile phone can be divided into two sections; the power distribution
and switching unit, and the charging unit. Power distribution section is
used for the distribution of voltage and current to the other components
of the smartphone. This section is generally part of an analog baseband
(ABB) unit.
It takes power from the battery and converts it to various voltages such as 4.8 V,
2.8 V, 1.8 V and 1.6 V, and distributes it to other components. Charging section
is responsible for charging the battery of the mobile phone. It is composed of
acharging integrated circuit, which takes power from an external source and
charges the battery of the smartphone.

7-Discussion:
Sound waves are the mechanical vibrations of a medium which are

then transferred to and interpreted by some sort of recording device, either living or tech in
origin, as sound. But not all vibrations produce audible or recordable sound. If you were
floating in space and detonated an explosive nearby, you would not hear it

because there is no medium, in this case air, to transfer vibrations to your eardrums.

There are sound waves waves higher than the range of human hearing

. These are referred to as ultrasound. Mechanical vibrattions of a medium below

the range of human hearing, less than 20 cycles per second, are referred to as infrasound.
