DETAILED LESSON PLAN

In
Mathematics V

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:

a. Find the area of triangle

b. Apply the formula in order to find the area of triangle
c. Display cooperativeness during activity

II. SUBJECT MATTER

 Topic: Finding the Area of Triangle
 References: Daily Lesson Log
 Materials: Pictures, activity sheets, chart, cut outs
 Values: Collaborative Learning

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
(The assigned student will stand in front
- “Before we start, please all of the class and lead the prayer.)
stand and let us pray. (Name of
student) Please lead us in
today's prayer.”
“Good morning/ afternoon, Teacher
2. Greetings Kristine!”
- Good morning, class! (The students will pick up all the pieces
of papers)
- “Pick up all the papers under
your chair and align your
chairs properly.” - “Thank you, Teacher Kristine!”
- “You may now take your
seats.”

3. Checking of attendance

- “Is everybody present

today?”

4. Setting of Standards

- “First and foremost, I want

you to know our class rules.”

 Respect and listen to your

teacher and classmate. “Yes, teacher”

 Be quiet when the teacher

is talking.
Types of triangle according to its angle

 Raise your right hand if

you want to speak.” Right angle, Acute, and Obtuse.

- “Is that clear?

5. Review of Past Lesson

“Before we proceed to our next

topic, what was our lesson
yesterday?”

“Again, what are the types of

triangle according to its angle?
Yes (Name of student)

“Yes, excellent!

a. Activity 1

“Classify Me”. Classify every

figure into its right place.

Sides Angles
Right Equilateral Scalene
Obtuse
Isosceles Acute

B. Presentation of the Lesson

a. Motivation
- Unlocking of difficulties

Formula

Area of a Triangle = A = ½ (b ×
h)

A= Area of Triangle
½= Given in the formula
b= base
h= height

- Zumba Dance
The teacher will present a
video clip that contains a
zumba dance.

- Activity

What’s In

Direction:
Find and count the number of triangles
in the picture given below.

Did you have fun doing the activity?

How do you find the activity?

a. Lesson Proper

Do you have any idea about what

was our topic for today?

Yes, Exactly. The area of

triangle.

And now, we will be discussing

the area of triangle.

Yes, teacher

b. COMPREHENSION CHECK
UP
(The students are paying attention and
listening attentively.)
1. Have you heard about the area
of triangle?
2. What comes in your mind when
we say area of triangle?
3. Are you ready to find and solve
the area of triangle?

Now, let’s begin!

The area of a triangle is defined as

the total region that is enclosed by
the three sides of any particular
triangle. Basically, it is equal to half
of the base times height, i.e. A = 1/2 Party hat, cone, sliced watermelon, and many
× b × h. Hence, to find the area of a more
tri-sided polygon, we have to know
the base (b) and height (h) of it.
Examples:
1. What is the area of a triangle with
base b = 3 cm and height h = 4
cm?
Using the formula,
Area of a Triangle, A = 1/2 × b ×
h
= 1/2 × 4 (cm) × 3 (cm)
= 2 (cm) × 3 (cm)
= 6 cm2
2. What is the area of a triangle with
base b = 4 cm and height h= 5
cm?
Using the formula,
Area of triangle, A = ½ x b x h
= ½ x 4 (cm) x 5 (cm)
= 2 (cm) x 5 (cm)
= 10 cm2
c. GUIDED PRACTICE
a. Generalization
1. What is the formula in
finding the area of
triangle?
2. Can you solve it to the
board?
b. Application

Solve the problem using this formula

A = ½ x b x h.

1.
IV. EVALUATION
ACTIVITY: Find the area of triangles. (10minutes)
