Main Principles of Holistic Nursing

Holistic nursing is a unique speciality within nursing, with a focus on the healing of

the whole person and complex methods of disease management. It makes a clear distinction

between complex holistic care and treatment of the physical body alone. Holistic nursing is

the application of a variety of philosophical, spiritual and psychological approaches to the

treatment of patients in order to have maximum effect.

The purpose of this essay is to discuss holistic nursing as a speciality and to identify

its main principles of operation.
