Hoarding of Harvest:Both the sides of the Coin

Hoarding of grains and other eatables is not a new ritual, this has been going on
from the times when monarchy was the only form of government.Unlike the popular
opinion that it makes a farmer not gain enough,it's quite a lucrative cycle. In
brief, hoarding is a process by which farmers are provided a space to store the
grains and crops that have been harvested since a common farmer in India doesn't
have enough space to store those items.
The problem lands in here...this process has a lot of mediators in between i.e. if
the farmer sells his harvest to the 1st mediator for Rs.15/- per Kg. who sells it
to the second mediator for Rs.18/- per Kg. who then, sells it to the last mediator
for Rs.22/- per Kg. who finally sells it to the government storage for Rs.25/- per
Kg., isn't the farmer in a loss? For this, our Government had passed on the Kisan
Bill which removed the mediators. This resulted in a lot of prostest from the
farmers. One may think this was extremely stupid of the farmers to act like...not
exactly. This is because although this may have profited the farmer, the mediators
can't be removed from between,it's obvious that the Prime Minister can't himself
contact each and every farmer of India. It means that, there have to be people in
between this cycle.Until this law was taken back,a lot of farmers had thus suffered
the terrible fate of having to see their crops being ruined due to not having
proper protection. The above case study clearly shows that we can't remove this
culture, everything has its pros and cons,in this case which have to be modified to
fit the current needs while keeping in mind all aspects and impacts of doing the
same.
