Group Case Study Assignment

The Task

Assume your group is a team working at a famous leading financial institute that
supplies professional advice for managers in its funds management division. Now the
department manager Melody has asked your team to investigate an international
company of your choice and decide on its investment potential. She is interested in
profitability in the industry that you have chosen. You are required to prepare a
written report and presentation.

Group Size
The Groups are suggested to include 3 to 5 members.

Report Topics
Your group report should address the following:
 The macroeconomic environment
 Industry analysis-including Porter’s Five Forces, SWOT analysis
 Company strategy analysis-detailing the company’s position within the industry
and the company’s introduction.
 Accounting analysis-Do you have any concerns about the company’s reporting
practice or accounting polices? If yes, what are your concerns about and how
would you alleviate them?
 Financial analysis- To analyze the company’s performance, you may analyze the
company’s performance over a time period, or you may choose to compare the
company’s performance with another company operating in the same industry.
 Valuation-You must come up with a per share valuation and compare it to the
market price. Explain the valuation method that you have chosen and why.
Highlight any shortcomings in this method. Clearly outline any assumptions you
have made and support for these assumptions.
 Recommendation-Should the financial institute invest in this company? Explain
the reasons.

Requirements
 The written report should be a maximum of 3,000 words and present as a
business report.
 You can obtain your company’s latest annual financial report from the company’s
profile.
 You also can use other reputable sources to research the industry and company.
 Your calculations and supporting evidence can be attached as appendices.

The written report (including its presentation) is worth 30% of your total grade in this
subject.
Submission Date
This written report will be submitted before 15:00 pm (Dubai Time) on March 7th
(Thursday), 2024.

Please submit the hard copy of the report with the cover page.
