QUESTION: #2.

PRIVATE ARMED GROUPS AND VIOLENT EXTREMISTS IN

SOUTHWESTERN PART OF MINDANAO, WOULD THEY ABANDON
THEIR ACTIVITIES GIVEN THE ENVISIONED OF QUALITY OF LIFE
FOR ALL, OR WOULD THEY CONTINUE THEIR VIOLENT ACTS?

SUGGESTED ANSWER:

In the Southwestern part of Mindanao Philippines, the impoverished, underdeveloped,

and rural areas are home to the populations most susceptible to violent extremist
communities.

These groups have lower levels of development, greater rates of poverty, and greater
income disparity rates, reduced levels of education, and decreased literacy.
Additionally, the most vulnerable groups typically have high rates of female education-
based gender inequality and low levels of female empowerment metrics, the role of
women in domestic decision-making, the availability of family planning, and domestic
abuse rates. Additionally, we discover that labor vulnerability and violent extremism
vulnerability are connected to Human trafficking (TIP) in the Philippines.

A just and enduring peace-a society is essential to AmBisyon's realization. The goal of
the Filipino people for a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay is known as
Ambisyon Natin 2040 (a safe and comfortable existence with close ties to family and the
community). Tranquil communities might benefit from economic expansion by having
better access to social financial and service possibilities, as well as greater human
development overall, without fear or a danger to their way of life. On the other hand,
economic growth may decrease the possibility of armed conflict, violent extremism
particularly in the event that socioeconomic reforms are lasting, inclusive, participatory,
sustainable and involving.

Thus, I can say that our administration has effectively addressed the issue of armed
groups and violent extremism in the southwest region of Mindanao through the
government's development tier program. Similar to the provinces of Tawi-Tawi, Sulu,
and Basilan, which are well-known for their involvement in armed conflicts, kidnappings,
extortions, and terrorism operations that are supported by a low-income population.
However, the provinces gradually evolved in terms of commerce, tourism, infrastructure,
and employment possibilities for all.
