Bureau of Fire Protection Region 8 Bolsters Operational Capabilities

Tacloban City, March 22, 2024 – The Bureau of Fire Protection Region 8, headed by
CSUPT ADEL DE PAZ BAUTISTA, DSC, Regional Director, bolsters operational
capabilities with the addition of a new Fire Truck, Personnel Transport Vehicle (PTV),
and a Rescue Truck. On March 13 and 15, 2024 respectively, the official turnover
ceremony took place at F. Cura Industries Warehouse 1, located in Barangay Sapang
Maragul, Tarlac City.

These formidable acquisitions mark a pivotal moment in our commitment to

safeguarding the lives and properties of the communities we serve across Region 8.
With the arrival of these vital assets, BFP Region 8 is poised to respond with increased
efficiency and effectiveness to emergencies of all kinds, further solidifying our role as
front-line responders in times of crisis.

At the forefront of our new acquisitions stands the Personnel Transport Vehicle (PTV), a
cutting-edge vehicle designed for swift mobility. Equipped with digital and portable
radios, the PTV ensures smooth communication during emergency operations. This
state-of-the-art feature enables our firefighters to coordinate effectively and respond
swiftly to any situation, ensuring the safety and security of our communities with
unwavering resolve. SFO2 Rex Ian N Merelos, Officer-in-Charge, Regional Supply and
Accountability Section, received the vehicle with FO1 Anthony R Bullecer and FO1
Christian Joseph R Tan.

Complementing the PTV is the Collapsed Structure and Rescue Truck, a versatile asset
equipped to handle various rescue operations. From high-rise extrication to vehicle
accidents, the Rescue Truck stands ready to respond to diverse emergencies, providing
critical support. The BFP Region 8 Special Rescue Force Personnel – FO3 Brian A
Dorosan, FO3 Ivan Hydlyde C Goboleo, and FO1 Herven C Cadion, underwent rigorous
training in Collapsed Structure and Rescue (CSAR), truck operation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting from March 13-15, 2024, in Tarlac City.

The 1,000 gallons Hino Fire Truck intended for Hindang Fire Station is rounding out our
new fleet additions. The fire truck's robust capabilities empower our firefighters to tackle
fires with precision and efficacy, minimizing damage and preserving lives. To ensure
proper operation and maintenance, SFO3 Alex A Colaba, Officer-in-Charge, Municipal
Fire Marshal, together with FO1 Claro Henry C Guinocor and FO1 Joselito R Ponteras,
underwent orientation and maintenance of this newly procured fire truck.

These acquisitions would not have been possible without the steadfast support of the
BFP National Headquarters, Local Government Units, and stakeholders. We extend our
deepest gratitude to all those who have contributed to this significant milestone in our
journey towards ensuring a safer Eastern Visayas.

As we embark on this new chapter equipped with our enhanced fleet, BFP Region 8
reaffirms its unwavering commitment to serving with excellence, professionalism, and
utmost dedication. Together, we stand ready to face the challenges ahead, united in our
mission to save lives and properties. ###
