DRAWING EXERCISES
Drawing exercises are good things to have up your sleeve when your — Timed studies — 30 second, 3 minutes, 5 minutes
mind draws a blank as to where to start. Some good ones to try:
— Don't look at the page, only at what you’re drawing. This helps
with coordination.

— Only draw in line

— Only draw in blocks of colour/tone

— Switch hands - use the hand you don’t usually draw with — this helps
to be less precious

— Don’t lift your pencil off the paper - draw in one continuous line

— If you want some practice drawing people, watch a film you like
and keep pausing it. Do quick studies of the paused actors

— If I want to practice faces and loosen up I like drawing crowds.

Google a crowd scene and draw away — it’s hard to get caught
up in detail when the faces aren’t super crisp
