– O.D comprises of a special set of organisational change method.


– It is a planned systematic process of organisational change based
on the behavioural science, research and theory.
– It is drawn from psychology and sociology.
Definition

Organisation development is an effort


1) planned,
2) organisation wide, and
3) managed from the top, to
4) increase organisation effectiveness and health, through
5) planned interventions in the organisation’s “processes”, using
behavioural – science knowledge.
(Beckard, 1969)
Why Organisational Change ?

– Set right the situation.


– Fix things that are needed.
– Seize opportunities to grow.
– Emerge as different entity.

– “Power is the ability to get things done the way one wants them
to be done.”
– Politics is efforts to influence the goals, criteria or processes used
for decision making when we state that politics is concerned with
“the distribution of advantages and disadvantages within the
organization.”
– Conflict means “a disagreement between two or more individuals
or groups”.
