Tugas Kelompok ke-3

(Minggu 6 / Sesi 10)

SAMPLING AND SAMPLING DISTRIBUTIONS

1. The following data are from a simple random sample.

5 8 10 7 10 14
a. What is the point estimate of the population mean?
- (5+8+10+7+10+14)/6 = 9
- ¯x =9
b. What is the point estimate of the population standard deviation?
- σ= sqrt{(5-9)2+(8-9)2+(10-9)2+(7-9)2+(10-9)2+(14-9)2}/6
- σ= 6.9282/6
- σ= 1.1547

2. A survey question for a sample of 150 individuals yielded 75 Yes responses, 55 No

responses, and 20 No Opinions.
a. What is the point estimate of the proportion of the proportion in the population who
respond Yes?

p = 75/150 = 0.50

b. What is the point estimate of the proportion of the proportion in the population who
respond No?

P = 55/150 = 0.3667

3. Assume the population standard deviation is σ = 25. Compute the standard error of the
mean, for the sample sizes of 50, 100, 150, and 200. What can you say about the size of
the standard error of the mean as the sample size is increased?

STAT 6111- Statistic

Dik : σ = 25
Dit : σx¯=σ/V50, σx¯=σ/V100, σx¯=σ/V150, σx¯=σ/V200 ?
Jawab : σx¯=25/V50 = 25/7.07 = 3.53
σx¯=25/V100 = 25/10 = 2.5
σx¯=25/V150 = 25/12.24 = 2.04
σx¯=25/V200 = 25/14.14 = 1.76
dari data diatas dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa semakin banyak jumlah sample (mendekati
populasil) maka semakin kecil pula tingkat atau peluang kesalahannya

4. A simple random sample of size 100 is selected from a population with p = 0,4.

Diketahui : n = 100 dan p = 0,4

a. What is the expected value of ?

E( ) = µ = µ = 0,4

b. What is the standard error of ?

Ơp = √p(1 – p)/n
= √0,4(1 – 0,4) / 100
= √0,24 / 100
= √0,0024
= 0,0489

5. A sample of 50 Fortune 500 companies (Fortune, April 14, 2003) showed 5 were based
in New York, 6 in California, 2 in Minnesota, and 1 in Wisconsin.
a. Develop an estimate of the proportion of Fortune 500 companies based in New York?

X=5
n = 50
P = X/n = 5/50

STAT 6111- Statistic

P = 0.1

b. Develop an estimate of the proportion of Fortune 500 companies based in Minnesota?

X=2
n = 50
P = X/n = 2/50
P = 0.04

c. Develop an estimate of the proportion of Fortune 500 companies that are not based in
these four states?

Companied yang berbasis di 4 negara tersebut = 5+6+2+1 = 14

X = 14
Companied yang tidak berbasis di 4 negara tersebut = 50 – 14 = 36
X = 36
n = 50
P = X/n = 36/50
P = 0.72
