Chapter 1
Species
Invasive Species
It is a non-native organism that has a negative
impact on its new ecosystem. Invasive species can
become adversely overpopulated and damage the
new habitat. It is a serious environmental and
ecological threat.
Once an Invasive Species
arrives, itʼs about
impossible To get rid Of
It!

Examples Of Invasive Species

Snake rabbit The Red Fox
Chapter 2
The Ecosystem
Ecosystem
a geographic area where plants, animals, and other
organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work
together to form a bubble of life.
Marine Ecosystem
Marine Ecosystem
Marine ecosystems are aquatic environments. These
include the open ocean, the deep-sea ocean, and
coastal marine ecosystems, each of which has
different physical and biological characteristics.
Chapter 3
Invasive Species
There
There are many invasive/new species in the Marine Ecosystem.
But the main Species that we are going to talk about IS :

Zebra mussel
Zebra mussel
The zebra mussel is a small freshwater mussel. The
species originates from the lakes of southern
Russia and Ukraine, but has been accidentally
introduced to numerous other areas and has
become an invasive species in many countries
worldwide
Chapter 4

Where Is It From?
The zebra mussel is native to Eastern
Europe and Western Russia. The
species was unintentionally introduced
into the United States' Great Lakes
through the discharge of contaminated
cargo ship ballast water
Chapter 5

Effect on the
Ecosystem
Yes they are , AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department (TPWD) has determined that invasive
zebra mussels have been successfully eradicated from
Lake Waco in Central Texas, preventing property
damage, protecting water supply infrastructure and
avoiding harm to the aquatic ecosystem
Zebra mussels negatively impact ecosystems in
many ways. They filter out algae that native species
need for food and they attach to--and
incapacitate--native mussels. Power plants must
also spend millions of dollars removing zebra
mussels from clogged water intakes.
