Where to mount your sat nav?

Using the consensus, here are a few tips on where the safest place is to position your sat nav or phone in
your car.

Top tip: Before choosing where to put your sat nav, make sure your seat is at the right height and position to
suit your body shape. If you don’t do this, you could get the sat nav positioning wrong.

You should mount your sat nav in the bottom left corner of your windscreen to maximize your view of the
road. If this isn’t possible, opt for the lowest point in the middle of the windscreen.

"With regards to the existing § 393.60, (e)(1)(ii), Paragraph (e)(1)(i) of this section does not apply to vehicle
safety technologies, as defined in § 393.5, that are mounted on the interior of a windshield. Devices with
vehicle safety technologies must be mounted outside the driver's sight lines to the road and to highway signs
and signals, and:

Not more than 100 mm (4 inches) below the upper edge of the area swept by the windshield wipers.
Not more than 175 mm (7 inches) above the lower edge of the area swept by the windshield wipers.
From FMCSA site and Canada is the same."
