Domestic Violence

Annually, about 75% divorces are initiated because of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a
pattern of aggressive behavior that involves abuse of a spouse or partner which can either be physical,
psychological, sexual, or emotional abuse. Not only women and kids but men can be likely at risk of
domestic violence. Domestic violence is the consequence of imbalance of power and social evil; it also
has negative effects on family and family members.

A major reason for domestic abuse is the imbalance of power and control. Old social stereotypes
that gives men a false sense of balance in a relationship is the reason why women are often the victims
of family abuse. Moreover, the internal conflicts and insecurity in a relationship cause people to seek
power and control over their partners by hitting, slapping or throwing objects in the house. Next,
domestic violence results from social evil. For instance, alcoholic or excessive using drugs brings about
psychological problems. Consuming alcohol and drugs, either men or women can lose their mind,
become aggressive and be a threat to their families and society.

Domestic violence is a devastating social problem, which impacts every aspect of our
population. The harmful effects of domestic violence are immediate or long-term effects. A person who
was attacked physically have to face with bruises and injuries on body’s parts. In addition, mental effects
of family abuse include depression, anxiety, changes in eating and sleeping patterns, and even suicide.
Another result is divorce. The victims of domestic violence find it a way to get away from hurt and
abuse. Domestic violence is a more serve problem because it harms children. Whether children witness
or experience abuse, it can take a toll on their development. They may suffer emotional damage and
become a violent person.

In conclusion, sometimes home is not a safe place because of domestic violence. Violence in
domestic settings is likely to happen to everyone regardless of gender, age and race. An important thing
to decrease the rate of domestic violence is to raise people awareness about the bad impact of it.
