Admission to the Ph.D. Programme

Provisional list of candidates selected for enrollment to the Ph.D programme (Session: July -
December 2023) in the School of Laser Sc. & Engineering, Materials Sc. & Nanotechnology and
Natural Products Studies under the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law & Management

Important:

1. The list is provisional and is subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier and verification
of original documents as listed below.

2. All applicants must have completed results of 2-Year MA/M.Sc./M.E or equivalent degree from any
university/institute recognized by the UGC.

3. Applicants who have obtained an MA/M.Sc/M.E or equivalent degree of less than two (2) years duration,
must have completed at least a total of five (5) years of under-graduate and post-graduate study in a
recognized university/institute.

4. An applicant, even if provisionally selected as per the list below, shall not be considered for
admission if at the time of verification of relevant documents, it is found that
(i) s/he is already enrolled/registered in any other degree or equivalent course at Jadavpur University
or in any other university/institute/college; a declaration in this regard needs to be submitted at
the time of registration in/admission to the Ph.D. programme.
(ii) s/he is pursuing 2-Year M.Phil in the relevant subjects and/or has submitted M.Phil dissertations but
either the viva-voce on his/her dissertation has not been conducted on or before February 3,
2023 or has failed in the viva-voce examination.

5. An M.Phil student of Jadavpur University with UGC Fellowship (NET-JRF/RGNF/Moulana Azad and
the like), even if provisionally selected under Continuing Fellowship Holder category
(supernumerary) as per the list below, shall NOT be considered for admission if at the time of
verification of relevant documents it is found that s/he
(i) has not successfully defended viva-voce examination on his/her M.Phil dissertation;
(ii) does not have valid Continuing Fellowship
(iii) has/had registered in any other university/Institute after completing his/her M.Phil degrees at
Jadavpur University or is currently registered in any other course in Jadavpur University
(iv) has a gap period of more than one year between the date of publication of Final M.Phil result
and the date of his/her registration/enrollment in the Ph.D. programme (as specified below).

6. As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL)

dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 of the Government of West Bengal, the Scheduled
Castes/ the Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of
reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as
a proof for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.

 7. A candidate applying for seat reserved for the OBC- A / OBC- B category (wherever applicable) must
produce an OBC certificate (the issue date of which should not be earlier than August, 2022) issued by
the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) he/she belongs to; (ii) that he/she
does not belong to creamy layer of the society. Without submission of such an appropriate certificate, the
applicant shall not be considered for seats reserved for OBC-A/OBC-B category.

8. As per the rules of Government of West Bengal, the OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other
than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West
Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as a proof for residing in West Bengal for at least
10 years issued by the competent authority.

9. As per the order of Govt. of West Bengal [order no: 434-Edn(CS)/10M-95/14 dated 16/7/2020], all the
original documents of applicants will be verified when they report at University campus. Provisional
admission of a candidate will stand cancelled if the documents are found not in conformity with the
declaration in the forms submitted earlier.

Original Documents to be presented at the time of physical verification:

(a) All mark-sheets and (preferably) certificates of all examinations passed or degree obtained
(b) Age Proof
(c) SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PD certificate (if applicable)
(d) NET/SET/GATE/Other fellowship certificate (if applicable)
(e) Migration Certificate from the University last attended (if applicable)
(f) No Objection Certificate from the employer (if applicable)
(g) Research Visa for foreign nationals
(h) Relevant documents for Continuing and valid fellowship (if any) – Award letter, joining letter etc.

Declarations to be submitted:
(a) Declaration that he/she is not registered for any other degree course to be submitted in the Rs. 10/- non-
judicial stamp paper duly certified by the Notary Public. ((Please see the Annexure -1)
(b) Declaration regarding employment status (Please see the Annexure -2)

The provisionally selected candidates are advised to submit the above-mentioned declarations at the
time of physical document verification or within 14th July, 2023 at the office of the FISLM.

10. Schedule for Payment of Registration Fees :

Registration fees [Rs. 14,000/ or 22,000/- (installment-wise) as applicable] for PhD programme under
FISLM, will be informed through PhD registration offer letter in due course prior to the enrollment.

The provisionally selected candidates will be able to pay the registration fees after verification of
copies of all testimonials submitted with the application form and submission of declarations
mentioned earlier.

11. The Registered Scholars must submit a Copy of the Receipt of Registration Fee paid to the office of the
Dean & Secretary, FISLM
