The Emperor’s New Clothes Puzzle Board Game
The Emperor’s got no clothes on! Can you help him
find the six pieces of clothing around the board?
You’ll need to avoid the Tricksy Travellers - they’ll
try to fool the Emperor again!

This game is great for:

• using fine motor skills as you pick up the cards

and pieces and roll the dice.
• practising social skills such as taking turns and
having good sportsmanship.
• developing communication and vocabulary skills.

Set-up:

Print and cut out all the game components: Game Board, Clothes
Puzzles, Emperor Counters and Tricky Travellers Counter. There’s
1 also a Dice Net, if needed (this game can be played with a
standard dice).

2 Laminate the pieces for durability, if desired.

If using the Dice Net, glue the tabs and stick together to
3 create a cube.

Ensure the Clothes Puzzles are sorted into piles of each piece and
4 placed around the edge of the Board (next to their corresponding
board spaces).

The Emperor’s New Clothes Puzzle Board Game

To Play:

Give each player a Counter - if you have more than four players,
1 then you can print more Puzzles and Counters.

Place the Emperor Counters and the Tricksy Travellers Counter on

2 the space in the centre of the board.

Players take turns to roll the dice and move their Counters that
3 number of spaces along the board.

The aim is to visit each of the main coloured spaces to collect

a different part of the Clothes Puzzle. If a player lands on one
4 of those spaces, they can add that piece of the puzzle to their
Clothes Puzzle.

If a player lands on a Tricksy Travellers space, then they must

roll the dice to determine how many spaces the Tricksy Travellers
Counter moves - this is the only time the Tricksy Travellers will
5 move. However, if the Tricksy Travellers Counter catches up and
lands on the same space as one of the players, that player must
give up a piece of their Puzzle, as the Tricksy Travellers have taken
it! They can visit the space again to re-collect the piece.

Gameplay continues until a player has collected all the pieces of

6 their Clothes Puzzle and returned to the centre space. This person is
the winner!

Adaptations:

• To simplify for younger players, remove the Tricksy Travellers Counter

from the game.
• To provide more challenge, make players complete a fun forfeit in order
to successfully collect a Clothes Puzzle piece.
