Saraguro
The Saraguro canton, in the province of Loja, Ecuador, is known for its rich indigenous
cultural heritage, its impressive natural landscapes and its traditional crafts. In Saraguro
there are several tourist places such as:
 Waterfall of the Virgin of Agua Santa
 The Huashapamba Native Forest
 Chinchilla Lagoons

VIRGIN HOLY WATERFALL

In an ancient legend, a peasant loses an image of the Virgin in a river, where it is
miraculously imprinted on a rock. The community tries to recover it, but a farmer
disappears in the attempt. Since then, the image on the rock becomes an object of
veneration as the Virgin of Agua Santa.
Currently, the farmers of the communities carry out their purification rituals and we can
also find a small sanctuary, which has a chapel open from 10 in the morning to 5 in the
afternoon.
In the place there are several cabins that serve as a rest space and also as viewpoints. It
has a small restaurant and entry to the waterfalls is free; You can even camp at this
place.
