Clean Water
Investigation
Objective
Students will gain a better understanding of the damaging effects of water
pollution by creating a filter and discussing solutions to creating cleaner water.

Materials
Coffee Filter / Katya
Mineral Water Sample Camera
Pasig River Water Sample Pen and Paper

Instructions

Take a video of you doing the clean water investigation.


Start by introducing the sample waters
Compare the differences between clean and polluted water. Describe
the taste, smell and looks.
Perform the experiment in the polluted water: Use the coffee filter or
katya to filter out the pollutants, repeat until no more can be filtered
out.
Challenge Questions

Note: The students can discuss and answer this in the video, if the
students can’t, he/she may write there answers on the space provided.

Discuss safe ways to determine what is still in the water - the look of
the water and the smell.

Discuss what were you able to filter out of the water and what were
you not able to filter out of the water?

Discuss if you were you able to get the water “clean” again?

Discuss how do you think pollution affects the environment in and


around the water?

What are some ways water is polluted around us?

As a student, what can you do to protect our water and environment?
