Tso Moriri
● Tso Moriri or Lake or "Mountain Lake", is a lake in
the Changthang Plateau in Ladakh .
● The lake and surrounding area are protected as the
Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
● It is a Ramsar Wetland site.

Hokera Wetland
● Hokersar Wetland is a wetland in the province of
Kashmir, India.
● It was designated as meeting the Ramsar convention
on November 2005.
● A natural perennial wetland contiguous to the Jhelum
basin.

Surinsar And Mansar Lake

● Ramsar Site.
● Location - Surinsar Lakeis situated 42 km (26 mi) from Jammu city.

● The Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the midst of both lakes.

● Fateh Sagar Lake is situated in the city of Udaipur,
Rajasthan.
● It is an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh
Singh of Udaipur and Mewar.

Dhebar Lake
● Dhebar Lake (also known as Jaisamand Lake) is
India's second-largest artificial lake, after Govind
Ballabh Pant Sagar (Rihand Dam, Sonbhadra, UP).
● It is located in the Udaipur District of Rajasthan.
● Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary allows a close encounter with the rich wildlife in their natural habitat.

Nakki Lake
● Nakki Lake is a lake situated in the Indian hill station of Mount Abu in Aravalli range.
● Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in this Holy Lake on 12 February 1948 and Gandhi Ghat was constructed.

Lake Pichola
● Lake Pichola, situated in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the
year 1362 AD, named after the nearby Picholi village.
● Two islands, Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir are located within Pichola Lake.

● Ameenpur is a small lake in Sangareddy District in
the Indian state of Telangana.
● It is the first body of water in India to be recognised
as a Biodiversity Heritage Site and is the first
biodiversity site to be approved in an urban area.

Hussain Sagar Lake

● Hussain Sagar is a heart-shaped lake in Hyderabad, Telangana.
● It was built by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1563.
● It is fed by the River Musi (Musi is a tributary of Krishna River).
● It also separates the city centre of Hyderabad from its neighborhood Secunderabad.
● Hussain Sagar Thermal Power Station was built in 1920 by the 7th Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan on the banks of
Hussain Sagar lake.
● It was the first thermal power station of South India.

● Vembanad (or Vembanad Kol) is the longest lake in
India.
● It is a Ramsar Site.
● It is the second largest Ramasar site in India only
after Sunderbans in West Bengal.
● The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is conducted in a
portion of the lake.

Sasthamcotta Lake
● The lake is named after the ancient Sastha temple (a
pilgrimage centre) located on its bank. It is a Ramsar
Site.

Ashtamudi Lake
● A natural backwater in Kollam district. River Kallada and Pallichal drains into it.
● It is a Ramsar Site.

Sela Lake
● Sela Lake, near the summit of the Sela pass, is one
of approximately 101 lakes in the area that are
sacred in Tibetan Buddhism.
● The Sela Pass is located on the border between the
Tawang and West Kameng Districts of Arunachal
Pradesh state in India.
● This lake often freezes during the winter and is
drained by Nuranang River, a tributary of the
Tawang River.

Prashar Lake
● Prashar Lake lies 49 km north of Mandi, Himachal
Pradesh.
● Surrounded with a three storied pagoda-like temple
dedicated to the sage Prashar.
● Till now no one has been able to find out the depth
of Prashar Lake. Bhima, one of the Pandava
brothers, had created the lake.

Renuka Lake
● Renuka lake is in the Sirmaur district of Himachal
Pradesh in India and it is 672 m above the sea level.
It is the largest lake in Himachal Pradesh.
● This lake was named after the goddess Renuka.

Chandra Taal
● Chandra Taal is a lake in the Spiti part of the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.

Pong Dam Lake

● Maharana Pratap Sagar, also known as Pong Dam Lake was created in 1975, by building the highest earthfill dam in
India on the Beas River in the wetland zone of the Siwalik Hills of the Kangra district of the state of Himachal
Pradesh. It is a Ramsar site.

Suraj Tal Lake

● lies just below the Bara-lacha-la pass in the Lahaul and Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh.

Kanjli Lake
● located in the Kapurthala district of Punjab.
● It was created in 1870 by constructing the headworks
across the perennial Bien River, a tributary of the
Beas River to provide irrigation facilities to the
hinterland.
● Included in Ramsar Convention in 2002.

Ropar Lake
● Ropar Wetland, also named Ropar Lake, is a
man-made freshwater riverine.
● It is a Ramsar Site.
● This important ecological zone is located in the Shivalik foothills of the Lower Himalayas and was created in 1952 on
the Sutlej River, in the Punjab.

Harike lake
● It is a Ramsar site.
● This man-made, riverine, lacustrine wetland spreads into the three districts of Tarn Taran Sahib, Ferozepur and
Kapurthala in Punjab.
● The wetland was declared a bird sanctuary in 1982, Harike Pattan Bird Sanctuary.

● Badkhal Lake was a natural lake situated in Badkhal
village near Faridabad, Haryana.

Brahma Sarovar
● Brahma Sarovar is an ancient water pool sacred to
Hinduism in old Kurukshetra city (Thanesar city), in
the state of Haryana.

Damdama Lake
● Damdama reservoir in Sohna, district in the Indian
state of Haryana.
● The lake, held by an embankment, is fed mainly by monsoon rain pouring into a trough at the base of the Aravali hills.

Udayamarthandapuram Lake - Tiruvarur District,

Berijam Lake
● Berijam Lake is a reservoir near Kodaikanal town in
Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu.
● It is at the old site of "Fort Hamilton", in the upper
Palani hills.
● The lake is formed below the Palani hill ranges at
the origin of the Varahanadhi (Varaha River) which is used for purposes of water supply and irrigation.

Ousteri Lake
● Ousteri Lake is a lake in the union territory of Puducherry, state of Tamil Nadu.
● This lake is also called as Ossudu Lake as it is located in the village named Ossudu.
● It is the largest lake of Puducherry.

Sukhna Lake
● Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, Punjab, India, is a
reservoir at the foothills (Shivalik hills) of the
Himalayas.
● This 3 km² rainfed lake was created in 1958 by
damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream
coming down from the Shivalik Hills.
● The lake was created by Le Corbusier and the Chief
Engineer P L Verma.
● Sukhna Lake is the venue for many festive
celebrations, too.
● The most popular is the Mango Festival held during
the monsoons when scores of varieties of mangoes are on display.

● यह राज थान के उदयपुर िजले म थत है ।
● जयसमंद व जीव अभयार अपने ाकृितक आवास म
समृ व जीवों के साथ घिन मुठभेड़ की अनुमित दे ता है ।

● िनकी झील अरावली रज म माउं ट आबू के भारतीय पवतीय थल म थत एक झील है ।
● 12 फरवरी 1948 को महा ा गां धी की राख को इस पिव झील म िवसिजत कर िदया गया था और गां धी घाट का िनमाण िकया गया
था।

● भारतीय रा राज थान म उदयपुर शहर म थत िपछोला झील, एक कृि म ताजे पानी की झील है , िजसे वष 1362 ई. म बनाया
गया था, िजसका नाम पास के िपछोली गाँ व के नाम पर रखा गया था।

पाखल झील
● पाखल झील, तेलंगाना के वारं गल िजले म पाखल व जीव
अभयार म एक मानव िनिमत झील है ।
● महान काकतीय, तेलुगु राजा गणपित दे व ने पाखल झील
का िनमाण िकया था।

अमीनपुर झील
● अमीनपुर भारतीय रा तेलंगाना म संगारे ी िजले की एक
छोटी झील है ।
● यह भारत म पानी का पहला िनकाय है िजसे जैव िविवधता
िवरासत थल के प म मा ता दी गई है और यह शहरी े म ीकृत होने वाली पहली जैव िविवधता साइट है ।

सैन सागर झील

● सैन सागर है दराबाद, तेलंगाना म एक िदल के आकार की झील है ।
● इसे 1563 म इ ािहम कुली कुतुब शाह ने बनवाया था।
● इसे मूसी नदी ारा (मुशी कृ ा नदी की एक सहायक नदी है ) खलाया जाता है ।
● यह है दराबाद के शहर क को उसके पड़ोसी िसकंदराबाद से भी अलग करता है ।
● सैन सागर थमल पावर े शन 1920 म 7 व िनजाम मीर उ ान अली खान ारा सैन सागर झील के िकनारे बनाया गया था।
● यह दि ण भारत का पहला थमल पावर े शन था।

● वे नाड (या वे नाड कोल) भारत की सबसे लंबी झील
है ।
● यह एक रामसर साइट है ।

िलंगामुिध झील
● िलंगामुिध झील कनाटक के मैसूर शहर म थत एक झील
है ।
● िलंगामुिध झील एक बारहमासी मीठे पानी की झील है जो
कावेरी नदी के बेिसन म थत है ।

नरसंबुिध झील - कनाटक के मै सूर म थत है ।

उलसूर झील
● उ ूर झील 'या हलासु झील, बगलोर की सबसे बड़ी
झीलों म से एक है ।
● यह अपने नाम को उस इलाके के नाम से ा करता है जो M G रोड के करीब हलासु नाम का है ।
● वतमान झील को बगलोर के त ालीन आयु सर लेिवन बटम बॉ रं ग ने बनाया था।

सेला झील
● सेला दर के िशखर के पास सेला झील, उस े की
लगभग 101 झीलों म से एक है जो ित ती बौ धम म
पिव मानी जाती ह।
● सेला दरा भारत म अ णाचल दे श रा के तवां ग और
पि म कामग िजलों की सीमा पर थत है ।
● यह झील अ र सिदयों के दौरान जम जाती है और नवां ग

िहमाचल दे श की मुख झील

पराशर झील
● पराशर झील िहमाचल दे श के मंडी से 49 िकलोमीटर
उ र म थत है ।
● एक तीन मंिजला िशवालय जैसे मंिदर के चारों ओर ऋिष
पराशर को समिपत है ।
● अब तक कोई भी पराशर झील की गहराई का पता नहीं
लगा पाया है । पां डव भाइयों म से एक भीम ने झील का
िनमाण िकया था।

रे णुका झील
● रे णुका झील भारत म िहमाचल दे श के िसरमौर िजले म
है और यह समु तल से 672 मीटर ऊपर है । यह िहमाचल दे श की सबसे बड़ी झील है ।
● इस झील का नाम दे वी रे णुका के नाम पर रखा गया था।

● चं ताल िहमाचल दे श के लाहौल और ीित िजले के ीित भाग म एक झील है ।

पौंग बांध झील

● महाराणा ताप सागर, िजसे 1975 म पोंग बां ध झील के नाम से भी जाना जाता है , िहमाचल दे श रा के कां गड़ा िजले के
िसवािलक पहािड़यों के वेटलड े म ास नदी पर भारत म सबसे ऊंचे अथिफल बां ध का िनमाण करके बनाया गया था। यह एक

कंजली झील
● पंजाब के कपूरथला िजले म थत है ।
● यह 1870 म बारहमासी बीन नदी के पार हे डव का
िनमाण करके बनाया गया था, ास नदी की एक सहायक
नदी है , जो अंद नी इलाकों को िसंचाई की सुिवधा दान
करती है ।
● 2002 म रामसर क शन म शािमल।

रोपड़ झील
● रोपड़ वेटलड, िजसे रोपड़ झील भी कहा जाता है , एक

● झील वरनाड़ी (वराह नदी) के उ म थल पर पलानी
पहाड़ी ृंखलाओं के नीचे बनाई गई है , िजसका उपयोग जल आपूित और िसंचाई के योजनों के िलए िकया जाता है ।

सुखना झील
● चंडीगढ़, पंजाब, भारत म सुखना झील, िहमालय की
तलहटी (िशवािलक पहािड़यों) म एक जलाशय है ।
● यह 3 वग िकलोमीटर की बा रश वाली झील 1958 म
िशवािलक पहािड़यों से नीचे आने वाली एक मौसमी धारा
