Marian devotion of the Peruvian Catholic Church whose image has it's main place of worship in a sanctuary built on the site of the the former Otuzco Gate.
Located 75 km northeast of the city of Trujillo, in the La
Libertad region. The celebration originated in 1664 when the image of the Virgin was placed at the entrance of Otuzco as a precaution against the risk of a pirate incursion. Since days before the central date hundreds of devout pilgrims make a journey of about 73 km from Trujillo to the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Puerta, located in Otuzco. Besides, many people love to go to this event and meet new people with the same devotion. The people who go expect to hope a safe place where they will be calm and loved. The devotion and faith of the participants is awe-inspiring, as they seek blessings, express gratitude and ask for miracles.
In conclusion, I'd like to get to know this incredible place in
our country and try to understand all those people.
