11 STUPIDLY SIMPLE
WAYS TO GET
MORE REPLIES TO
YOUR COLD EMAILS
AND CONNECTION
REQUESTS
BACKGROUND:
I’ve tested hundreds of cold
outreach strategies.

Most have led to getting

ignored, but some have
gotten tons of replies.

Here are my 11 best tips...

1. INCLUDE A CTA
This is super simple, but a lot
of people mess it up.

Tell your prospects *exactly*

what to do (e.g. answer a
question you ask in the body)
at the end of the email.
2. PERSONALIZE
People respond well to seeing
their name and/or company
name.

Add one or both to the body

of the email and add one (first
name tends to be best) to the
subject line.
3. CREATE FAMILIARITY
You’ll get more replies if
prospects feel like you’re
friendly and/or have
something in common with
them.

Mention a shared contact, a

piece of content they created,
etc.
4. USE SOCIAL PROOF
Social proof grabs attention
and instantly builds trust in
you and your offer.

Add it with a one-sentence

case study or something else
that signals competence.
5. ADD VALUE
The law of reciprocity tells us
that when you do someone a
favor, they’re likely to return
it.

You can make that happen by

offering prospects a free tip
or audit.
6. USE ACCURATE INFO
Of course, if your emails
bounce, they’re not gonna get
replies.

Use a good lead gen software

like UpLead (my company)
that generates leads with
extremely high accuracy.
7. SEGMENT LISTS
One strategy might work in
one industry but not in
another.

Segment your lists so you can

make campaigns more
specific and effective.
8. KEEP IT CONCISE
Nobody wants to read a
massive cold email.

Instead, keep yours under 5

sentences. In some cases, you
can even make them just one
line.
9. TIME THEM RIGHT
Weekday mornings tend to
see the highest open and
reply rates.

Program your software to

send on those days and at
that time.
10. FOLLOW UP
“The money is in the follow-
up” is a cliché for a reason: it’s
true.

Always follow up a couple of

times, and maybe follow up
5+ times.
11. A/B TEST (A LOT)
Your first crack at this
probably won’t go great.

But if you keep A/B testing

subject lines, bodies, CTAs,
audiences, and strategies,
you’ll eventually have
templates that produce
results.
