Syllable stress
• Definition:
▪ Words in English contain one or more syllables.
▪ In words with more than one syllable, one syllable is stressed.
▪ The stressed syllable is louder and clearer than the other syllables.
• Example:
▪ One syllable: job
▪ Two syllables: doc-tor
▪ Three syllables: com-pa-ny
