3.2. Mixtures
Hazardous ingredients:
HYDROCHLORIC ACID
Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin. Wash
immediately with plenty of soap and water. If irritation persists, seek medical advice/
attention. Launder contaminated clothing thoroughly before re-use.
Eye contact: * Seek immediate medical attention. Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Remove
any contact lenses and keep eye-lids wide apart. Continue rinsing for at least 10
minutes or until trained medical assistance arrives.
Ingestion: * Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting.
Wash out mouth with water. Give plenty of water to drink. Consult a doctor.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapours. If breathing becomes

4.2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Skin contact: * There may be irritation and redness at the site of contact. It is a weak acid but may
cause burns on prolonged exposure.
Eye contact: Corneal burns may occur. May cause permanent damage.
Ingestion: It is a weak acid but may cause burns to the mouth and digestive system on prolonged
contact.
Inhalation: No evidence of any adverse effects under normal conditions.
Delayed / immediate effects: Immediate effects can be expected after short-term exposure.
4.3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Immediate / special treatment: * A decontamination shower should be available on the premises. Eye bathing
equipment should be available on the premises. Show this safety data sheet to the
doctor in attendance.
Extinguishing media: * Suitable extinguishing media for the surrounding fire should be used. DO NOT use
direct water-stream, it may spread the fire. Use water spray to cool containers.
Exposure hazards: Corrosive. In combustion may emit hazardous fumes of Hydrogen Chloride.
Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact
with skin and eyes.
Personal precautions: Refer to section 8 of SDS for personal protection details. Turn leaking containers leak-
side up to prevent the escape of liquid. Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with
eyes and skin. Beware of slip hazard.
Environmental precautions: Contain the spillage using bunding. Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Spillages or
uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must be immediately alerted to the
appropriate environmental agency.
Clean-up procedures: Absorb into dry earth or sand. Transfer to a closable, labelled salvage container for
disposal by an appropriate method. DO NOT use metal containers. Wash the spillage
site with large amounts of water.

Handling requirements: * Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid the formation or spread of mists
in the air. Ensure you are wearing the correct protective equipment - see section 8. Avoid
contact with eyes and skin. DO NOT eat, drink or smoke while handling. Wash hands
thoroughly after use.
Storage conditions: * Corrosive storage. Store in a cool, well ventilated area. Keep away from food and
animal feed. Separate from incompatible material - see Section 10.
Suitable packaging: * It is recommended that this product is only kept in its original packaging. Use non-
metallic containers. Suitable materials for containers:- High Density Polyethylene
