Title Adjustment Procedure of Z-axis Zero Return Position

z Adjust and establish the zero return position of Z-axis according to the following procedures.
< Attention >
When the servo batteries are consumed, replace those with new ones before performing
this procedure.

1. Change the setting of “ ZERO POINT ADJUSTMENT ” to “ VALID ” on the OPERATION

PANEL screen.
∗ Whether the setting is present or not depends on the production years of the machine.
It is unnecessary when there is no “ ZERO POINT ADJUSTMENT ” in OPERATION
PANEL screen.
• Display the OPERATION PANEL screen.
Press SETTING function key → Press [ F1 ] “ OPE. PANEL ” soft key
→ Press [ F6 ] “ OPE PANEL ” soft key
• Change the setting of “ ZERO POINT ADJUSTMENT ” to “ VALID ”.
Move the cursor to the “ ZERO POINT ADJUSTMENT ” by ↑ ↓ cursor
movement keys → Press → cursor movement key to select “ VALID ”

2. Move the Z-axis to the machine zero point.

< Attention >
When moving the axis, make sure no obstructions are present within the moving area,
and also do not approach the moving area.
• Turns the pallet so that the edge locator of the pallet is positioned vertically to the
Z-axis motion.
∗ Make the face of the pallet edge vertical to Z-axis when there is no edge locator.

Title Adjustment Procedure of Z-axis Zero Return Position

< Example of B-axis turning >

Press PROG function key to display the PROGRAM CHECK screen.
Input and execute the following commands in the MDI mode.
M11; Command of Table Unclamp (only rotary table spec.)
G0 G91 B×××.; Command of Turn the B-axis (Table) ××× degrees
M10; Command of Table Clamp (only rotary table spec.)
• Clamp the Test Bar to the spindle.
∗ Use a Test Bar of which length is specifically guaranteed.
• Place the 200 mm length Block Gauge on the pallet and press it to the edge locator.
∗ If there is no edge locator on the pallet, the side of the Block Gauge must be aligned
with the spindle side surface of the pallet using the magnet.

• Move the X- and Y-axis by manual pulse generator to the position where the Test Bar
clamped in the spindle comes above the Block Gauge (visually).
• Move the Z-axis in the “ - ” (minus) direction by manual pulse generator and stops at
the position where the APC side surface of the Block Gauge is aligned to the surface
of the Test Bar.
< Example >
Press a block such as another block gauge to the APC side surface of the Block
Gauge and fix it with a magnet.
Move the Z-axis in the “ - ” direction and stops at the position where the surface of
the Test Bar touches the block.

• Set the value of < RELATIVE > coordinates of Z-axis to “ 0.000 ”.
…… Refer to step 3 for the setting method
• The machine zero point of Z-axis is set to 730 mm the distance from the spindle gauge
line to the center of pallet (center line of X-axis direction).
Thus calculate the remaining distances of the Z-axis (Z), subtracting the length of the
Test Bar (L) from 730 mm.
Z-axis remaining distance (Z) = 730 mm - the length of the Test Bar (L)

< Example >

In the case of length of the Test Bar is 300 mm:
Z-axis remaining distance (Z) = 730 - 300 = 430 mm
• Move the Z-axis in the “ + ” direction to the calculated amount by manual pulse
generator. This position is the Z-axis machine zero point.
