Part 2 Candidate Booklet

Interlocutor: [Candidate A], I’d like you to talk about taking photographs. First, you have
some time to think about what you’re going to say. (Candidate read the question in 20
seconds.)

Taking photographs
Talk about taking photographs.

You should say:

 What type of photographs you like to take
 What is the best photograph you have taken was about
 What you do with the photographs
 If you prefer to take photographs or buy postcards when you travel

Sample answer Candidate A (Answer in 1 minute):

I like to take photos of nature, especially birds and animals in the wild. The best
photo that I have taken so far of is of a passerby who rescued a kitten from a
manhole. He did not even mind the dirt on him. Normally, once I have taken the
photos, I would store them in my computer so that I can share the photos with
friends and family members via Facebook or Instagram. I would say I prefer to
take photographs because taking photos allows me to capture my own experiences.

Interlocutor: Thank you. [Candidate B], what is the best photograph you have taken? Why?
Sample answer Candidate B (Answer in 20 seconds):

I think the best photograph that I have ever taken is of my grandmother blowing
out the candles on her 85th birthday. I love it because I manage to capture the
smile and happiness on her face that brightened up the whole occasion.

Interlocutor: [Candidate B], I’d like you to talk about your neighbours. First, you have some

Neighbours
Talk about your neighbours.

You should say:

 If you know your neighbours well
 How often you meet your neighbours
 How you think neighbours can help each other
 If you like you neighbours (why/why not?)

Sample answer Candidate B (Answer in 1 minute):

I have known my neighbours since we moved to this housing estate almost ten
years ago. So, I think I can say that I know the people living near me well enough
to have a chat and exchange goodies from time to time. I meet them a few times a
day, especially in the morning and evening. I think neighbours can help us look after
our homes when we are away or in case of an emergency. I like my neighbours
because we have been friends since childhood.

Interlocutor: Thank you. [Candidate A], do you like your neighbours? Why?
Sample answer Candidate A (Answer in 20 seconds):

I would say I like my neighbours. This is because I have known them since we
moved to the neighbourhood. We play, talk and even help each other in times of
emergency. We invite each other to our homes for some special gatherings and on
festive occasions.

Let’s practice!
