Dear Hiring committee:

I am writing to you about the current open position at your company. I came across this teaching
position through your website. This position interests me because being an educator has always
been a dream of mine. Since high school, I have had many years of experience in childcare. In
my first couple years of college, I was enrolled in education classes that helped my background
on child development.

When I was 16, I taught Christian Education to 3rd graders. This opportunity allowed me to give
back to my church community. I enjoyed this experience because I was able to turn the lessons
into engaging activities. For example, when learning about the rosary the students were able to
make Rosaries of their own. In high school, I tutored families around my neighborhood. During
breaks and weekends I continue this role. I was enrolled in Early Childhood Education my
Sophomore and Junior year. My senior year got cut short due to Covid, but I was working with
Loudoun County as a teacher cadet. This experience influenced my interest in teaching. It gave
me the opportunity to put real lessons into action. For example, I had planned to do a lesson on
fractions. The school had an unplanned fire drill leading us to end the lesson early. After the fire
drill, the students wanted to finish the fractions activity. Therefore I allowed them to bring the
rest of the supplies home to finish their fraction exercise. Due to this experience being cut short I
learned that not everything goes to plan. I had to finish my work online for the rest of the year,
which had a huge impact on my lessons. My cooperating teacher helped guide me through
teaching online. I used timers shown on the screen to help time management and use
manipulatives to help their focus. These methods worked best for me because it allowed them to
feel like we were still in the classroom.

Thank you in advance for considering me for this position.

Sincerely,

Adrianne Donohue
