Today was the third day of my Teaching Internship and I
couldn't have asked for a better experience. Classes ran until
lunch time and then the students were sent home in the afternoon. However, the senior high school students had organized an event in the afternoon. After lunch, I, along with my fellow student teachers went to the Principal’s office where we were required to work on organizing and designing the teachers’ bulletin board. As we started at 1pm, the task required more time than we had expected and we finished the task only at 3:45pm. It was then that the Senior High teachers invited us to take part in their event and so we hurriedly returned to our respective homes to get ready. At 6 pm, we returned to the school premise to take part in the event. We were welcomed at the door and introduced as the Interns of the school to the audience. As we made our way through the hallways, we stopped to take pictures with the teachers, the principal, and the guests. There was a variety of tasty food served during the event and I was overwhelmed with the hospitality. The event started with an opening speech by our host and then continued with a variety of activities. It was indeed a unique experience as it made us feel that we were a part of the school. Eventually, the event finished at 8 pm and we all parted ways. This day was memorable and had made me feel grateful to be a part of this school. It taught me important lessons such as the need to be organized and punctual. It was indeed a fulfilling day of service and learning.I came to understand how crucial it is to plan ahead and be on time for events and tasks in order to ensure a smooth and successful event. I was also immensely appreciative of being a part of this institution and getting to experience such warmth and caring. I could tell how much the senior high school students cared about their school and wanted to improve it by the fact that they had planned this event. I was also reminded of the value of studying and serving others in order to advance as a teacher. My participation in the activity and my work on the bulletin board demonstrated to me the importance of teamwork as well as how much I could learn from the other teachers and students. I will keep this priceless experience with me throughout my teaching career. I discovered that prioritizing the requirements of the school and engaging in collaborative activities are crucial for a school's success. I was also reminded of how crucial it is to take the initiative and be imaginative when planning events because this can leave a lasting effect on the teachers and students. Overall, this day was a fantastic learning opportunity in which I am thankful to have participated.
