I’m writing this letter to show my profound interest in “PhD student position in Antenna design for 6G

telecommunication”.

I was born and raised in rural Sindh Pakistan. The area is underprivileged and very few institutes provide
quality education. Being from a middle class family, I was unable to find quality education opportunities.
Therefore,, I had to complete my secondary education form an average ranked school. From early age, I
was hardworking and spent most of my time studying and I completed my secondary education with
distinction. I also earned a good character certificate as a result. I continued working hard and
successfully completed my higher secondary education with good grades. Over the years, I had
developed keen interest in engineering field and I aspired to become an engineer, however, due to
financial hardships of my family, I again faced challenges in realizing my goals. But I did not give up and
decided to explore opportunities in order to pursue my dream and fortunately, I secured a fully funded
scholarship for ICTR&D fund by giving a competitive exam.

After obtaining scholarship, I was successfully able to complete my bachelors with major in
telecommunication engineering where I worked on millimeter wave antenna design for imaging
application as my final year project. In this project, we were tasked to design different antennas in Ka-
band at 35 GHz to achieve high gain and narrow beam width. I used CST and designed different antennas
i.e. Horn antenna, Horn antenna linear array with reflector, Cassegrain antenna. During analysis, we
concluded that cassegain antenna is most suitable antenna for imaging application as it had high gain
and narrow beam width as compared to other antennas. This research paper was eventually published
in IEEE and IMTIC.

After my graduation, I again looked for more opportunities to attain high education in the field of
engineering in order to realize my passion for learning and development. Fortunately, I was again able
to secure another scholarship form HEC Pakistan. During the course of higher education, I conducted my
research on antenna design for device free localization. This work emphasize on finding an efficient and
low cost solution for device free localization. I designed phased array antenna and analyze the received
signal strength on other antenna. I conclude my research and found compelling results which were also
published in IEEE and hindawi journal.

Currently, I am working as a Research officer at National Institute of electronics, Islamabad, Pakistan. It

is a government owned R&D organization working on electronics and allied fields. During my career, I
worked on an R&D project for the development of FMCW RADAR. I was tasked to design a wide band
directional antenna in X-band with high gain. For this purpose, I selected Vivaldi antenna and achieved
my goal by using Vivaldi antenna array. Further, I also worked on projects related to internet of things
including designing of smart plug, smart homes and indoor positioning system. These IoT related
projects helped me to learn cutting edge technology and I polished my skills in programing, PCB design
and product development.

I want to pursue PhD in communication engineering especially emerging communication technologies.

This PhD position aligned with my previous research work and future career prospects. It will be a great
opportunity for me to work in one of the prestigious university and up skill my knowledge. This will help
me work in leading research group in antenna design to grasp the knowledge of applied research.
