NOTE
The illustrations in this manual can differ from those on the machine. Remember this when reading this
manual and carrying out work on the machine.
Read the manual carefully before you start to use the machine/module. Read and understand the
information in this manual, and observe the instructions. Carry out all work in accordance with the current
work, safety and environmental regulations.
The machine must not be in operation when you remove guards, drip trays or other parts of the machine

you carry out a test run.
Always test run the machine after making an adjustment or replacing parts.
Switch off the main switch before changing electrical parts. Lock the main switch with the padlock and
keep the key with you.
Only specialised persons who are authorised to do so may carry out work on the machine's electrical
circuit.
Take ESD preventive safety measures before you touch electronic components. ESD = ElectroStatic
Discharge; discharge of electrostatic energy that can damage electronic parts.
Wait at least five minutes after switching off the main switch to the before you start work on any
electronic systems.

Begincheck LED’s
The Begincheck LED’s flashes with each carrier. It is checked whether an egg is in the carrier. A part of the
light is reflected from the shell and is received by a sensor-system that is able to tell the shade of brown of
the shell. This information is used by the algorithm that tells whether an eggs contains blood yes/no for
eliminating influences of brown shells. This information can also be used by the Omnia grading computer if
this is equipped with the optional brown-detection software for sorting eggs on the color of the shell.
Blooddetection LED’s
The Blood detection LED’s flashes only when an egg is in the carrier. The light will enter the egg and either
be absorbed or passes the egg. On the opposite side of the Blooddetection LED’s, a optical system
NOTE
Order number calibration eggs: 21537620 (Box + 7 eggs).
NOTE
Calibrate the Blood detection unit after every 600 hours of production with the special white calibration eggs
and the calibration wizard.
NOTE
To determine the breakpoints you have to run the Breakpoint wizard. (See paragraph 5.5)
5.3.1 Breakpoints
The distance between two track carriers is 82 mm, this distance is divided into 90 pulses. Each pulse
position (breakpoint) can be linked to an action. E.g. the begincheck LED’s is on another position than the
Blooddetection LED’s, thus the moment of flashing of the begincheck LED’s is different of the moment of
flashing the Blooddetection LED’s etc.
- Begincheck breakpoint
This is the moment the Begincheck LED’s are flashing. This is when the track carrier is exactly in the
middle of the “White light”.
- Flash breakpoint
The data is send for which Orange / Green LED’s need to be flashed.
- Start read Bl Rf breakpoint
This is the moment the Orange / Green LED’s are flashing. This is a fixed value due to the
mechanical distance between the begincheck LED’s and the Blooddetection LED’s.
- Copy from Can
Before the Blooddetection LED’s are flashing the egg information is received from the Omnia Master
Control. This action is called “Copy from Can”.
- Copy to Can
After the Blooddetection LED’s have flashed, all the blood information is collected and returned to
the Omnia Master Control. This action is called “Copy to Can”.

NOTE
Calibrate the Blood detection unit after every 600 hours production with the special white calibration eggs.
NOTE
The light intensity is too low if Red value is too low during calibration. See paragraph 6.3.

6 Turn the machine manual forwards with spanner 46 until the encoder value is set to the correct value.
(in this example 46)
- The carriers with the white calibration eggs are in middle of the “Green and Orange LED’s” and the
fibre lens.

Fig. 10 - Setup HV Blood and HV Ref
1- Adjusting busy
2- Adjusting finished
8 After HV Blood and HV Ref are found, press [Next].
- Expected values between 100 - 180.
- If HV blood and/or HV Ref value is between 180 - 220, the light intensity is too low. Check the items
mentioned in paragraph 6.3.
- Repeat the calibration.
NOTE
If the begincheck threshold setting is not correct, dark brown eggs will go to the end of the machine. For
possible solutions, see paragraph 6.4.
All checkpoints are correct but the Diff value is still wrong:
If the Diff value is still wrong it can be corrected by changing the HV Blood setting. Go to
Service&Diagnose - Setting - Hardware setting.
- Diff value < 0.8 => bring HV Blood up (steps of 5 up) and check the Diff value again.
- Diff value > 1.2 => bring HV Blood down (steps of 5 down) and check the Diff value again.

20%
If 80% of all detected eggs contain visible blood, the
Low
detector is set at low sensitivity and will likely miss smaller
blood spots.
50%
If 50% of all detected eggs contain visible blood, the
High
detector is functioning normal and the sensitivity is high,
good for detecting spots >2mm².
80%
Extreme high If 20% of all detected eggs contain visible blood, the
detector is at maximum sensitivity.
The machine-speed
- The machine-speed is calculated from the frequency of encoder pulses.
Timing error
- Timing error appears when the sequence of actions is not right.
- Run the Breakpoint wizard (See paragraph 5.5) to setup the timing. This error could appear once in
a while.
Problem solving:
When a unit color is yellow
- Reset the communication by pressing <Ctrl-R>.
- Some cases, run the Breakpoint wizard. (See paragraph 5.5)
Checkpoints:
1 Check the ambient light.
- Close all the covers.
- Place the drip-bin.
2 Clean the calibration eggs.
3 Clean the fibre lens. No scratches, egg yolk, feathers, dust etc.
4 Clean the glass of the LED’s.
5 Check if the flash of the LED’s is in the centre of the carrier.
6 Check that all the LED’s are working. If necessary, change the BLD14 board. See paragraph 6.12.
7 Check the height adjustment of the BD20. See paragraph 5.4.
8 Check the mirror. See paragraph 6.13.
9 Check the fibre. See paragraph 6.11 and paragraph 6.12.
