1.5 How is the teaching of the mother tongue addressed in the curriculum?

Mother tongue instruction in the curriculum enables students to understand and express their ideas
more effectively, which fosters meaningful learning. In addition, mother tongue instruction promotes
inclusion and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity. It is important that education systems
consider the importance of the mother tongue and provide adequate support and resources for its
implementation.

It is an important and debated topic in different educational contexts:

 Importance of mother tongue: research shows that having a solid foundation in the mother
tongue leads to a better understanding of the curriculum and a more positive attitude
towards school. Learning in the mother tongue allows children to build on their home languages
and avoids mechanical memorization. It also plays a key role in the learning and development
of new languages.
 Focus on two-way communication: It allows for two-way communication between teacher and
students. This helps students better understand the content and increases their confidence,
which can reduce the dropout rate.
 Challenges and resistance: Despite the benefits, there are ideological and structural
challenges to implementing mother tongue instruction. Some education systems may prefer
bilingual education or focus only on English and the national language. However, research and
best practices support the use of mother tongue instruction.

2.5 How do student-centered and teacher-centered activities fit into English learning?

Learning English in the school curriculum is integrated as a second language to be learned, and it is of
utmost importance nowadays to learn it because it is a language of international use. They fit
according to the academic level, that is, the teacher must adjust the topics according to the
curriculum of that period, and apply these topics to the students, whether it is focused on basic
language learning for children or focused for people with a higher level of intellect, each activity
depends on the cognitive level.

3.5 How has the social and cultural context influenced the evolution of the curriculum?

The social and cultural context has influenced the evolution of the curriculum throughout history.
Changes in society, culture and educational demands have led to reforms and modifications in the
curriculum to adapt to the needs of society at each historical moment.

4.5 How can different learning theories be integrated to provide a more complete understanding
of the learning process?

Integrating different learning theories can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the
learning process by acknowledging the multifaceted nature of learning and recognizing that various
factors contribute to individual learning experiences.
