I. TOPIC: PLATE BOUNDARIES

Learning Competency: Describe the different types of plate boundaries. (S10ES-IA-j-36.2)
II. OBJECTIVES
 Describe each type of plate boundaries
 Illustrate the different type of plate boundaries.
 Provide examples of different type of plate boundaries
III. INTRODUCTION
The movement of Earth’s tectonic plates cause them to interact in a number of ways forming
different plate boundaries. These plate boundaries separated the different plates and formed the various
landscapes on Earth’s crust.
IV. TEXT DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY (BODY)
There’s have a three types of plate boundaries; (a) Divergent boundaries, where new crust is generated as the
plates pull away or separates from each other, commonly resulted in the formation of mid-ocean ridge and rift valleys;
(b) Convergent boundaries, where crusts come together, one crust is destroyed as it dives under another, process
known as subduction, commonly resulted in the formation of trenches, mountain ranges, and volcanoes; (c) Transform
boundary, where crust is neither produced nor destroyed as the plates slide horizontally past each other which
commonly resulted in the formation of faults and earthquakes.

(a) Divergent Boundary (b) Convergent Boundary (c) Transform Boundary

ridges.
