● 6. Reflection

1. Do you often write emails?

Yes, very often. I am a freelance coppywriter, and sending emails is part of
my work. I write emails every single day, to my clients and colleagues. Take
yesterday for example, I must have sent about ten emails for work-related
stuff. Sometime, I feel I spend too much time on the emails. Mind you, I don't
really use the email to keep in touch with friends and family. I’d much rather
use Facebook for that.

2. Do you think people will still write letters in the future?

I’d say yes. I don't think we are about to give up writing letters completely. To
my mind, handwriting of a person expresses emotion more than the font style
in electronic mail. Besides, handwriting is more personal. They show the
receiver that someone has spent time and effort in communicating with them.
So I think the word may be more advanced in the years to come than now, but,
the advancement of technology will never make this special kind of vanish.

3. Do you prefer sending emails or writing letters/ cards?

Well, it depends on what I’m doing, but if I have to choose one, I personally
have a preference for sending emails rather than writing letters.
Mainly because it is more econimical and time-saving than writing a letter.
For example, currently, I am applying for studying in a Korean university. it
only takes me a few seconds to send out an application form via email,
which is really convenient. Meanwhile, if I sent a letter to professors in Korea,
it might take at least a week, and all my applications would be delayed.
However, I do admit that handwriten letters help people express their
feelings better and it is more personal. And I often write letters for my friends
and my family to show my love and care to them.
By and large, I’d rather send emails than write letters.

4. Do you prefer communicating with friends and family face-to-face or

online?
There is no doubt that I have a preference for getting in touch with friends and
family face-to-face rather than online. Firstly, it’s because of work, I spend a
lot of time on the computer, so in my leisure time, I want to be with my family
or to meet up with my friends. Secondly, face-to-face communication will
make it easier for people to express their feelings and share life's difficulties.
Besides, there are a few occasions when we need to meet face-to-face, for
example, when hanging out with friends that you haven’t seen for ages or
when having an important family meeting where a lot of relatives get together
to celebrate. That’s not to say that we don’t get in touch online. I often use this
way to connact with some friends who are not living in Vietnam. However, it's
just that I'd rather meet up for a chat than do so online.
