DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Before disassembling the unit, you MUST
put it into SHIP mode using the “sh” TAP command
so that the battery is not putting out any power.
Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit.
This must be done unless the unit is dead and you
cannot communicate with it via TAP. Refer to pages
30 and 31 for TAP information. Verify the unit does
not respond to a keypress after the command.

1. Bottom Cap Removal

1.1 Remove the foot by carefully peeling it away

from the bottom cap.
Note: The product serial number is laser engraved
on the foot. In order to re-use the same foot,
remove the old adhesive from the foot and use
a new PSA adhesive ring, Bose® part number
799364-001S to re-secure the foot to the bottom
cap after repair.

1.2 Remove the three screw flexure caps that

cover the bottom cap screws.
Note: These caps are not re-usable. They are part
of the water resistant design and must be replaced
with new parts.

1.3 Remove the three screws that secure the

bottom cap to the enclosure.

1.4 Carefully lift off the bottom cap. Disconnect the

ribbon cable that connects to the I/O board.
Note: To release the cable you must use a small
tool to flip up the black locking tab at the back of
the connector. The cable should be able to be
easily removed once this is unlocked.

2. Input/Output PCB Removal

2.1 Perform procedure 1.

2.2 Unplug the ribbon cable that connects to the

USB connector block. Flip up the black locking tab
on the connector and slide out the ribbon cable.

20
DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
2.3 Remove the two screws that secure the
I/O PCB to the bottom cover. Lift it out of the
bottom cover.
Re-assembly Note: If you are installing a new
I/O PCB, be sure to also order a new gasket,
Bose® part number 750580-0020, for the
charging connector located on the bottom of
the I/O PCB.

3. USB Connector Block Removal

3.1 Perform procedure 1.

3.2 Perform step 2.2 above.

3.3 Remove the one screw that secures the

USB connector block to the bottom cap. Lift off
the connector block.

4. Top Cap and Grille Removal

4.1 Perform procedure 1.

4.2 Slide the grille downward to allow access

to the screws that secure the top cap.

4.3 Remove the four screws that secure the

top cap in place.

4.4 Carefully lift off the top cap.

4.5 Once the top cap is removed, you can

slide the grille upward, past the main PCB and
off of the enclosure to remove it.

5. NFC PCB Removal

Re-assembly Note: The NFC PCB is adhered

to the top of the Main PCB by a PSA pad.
Replacement NFC PCB’s do not come with
the PSA pad, the microphone filter or the
ferrite backer attached. You will need to order
those as well when replacing the NFC PCB.
Refer to the Main Parts List for part numbers.

21
DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
5.1 Perform procedure 1.

5.2 Perform steps 4.2 to 4.4 to remove the top

cap. Once the top cap is removed, you can
access the NFC PCB (shown in red box).

5.3 Carefully lift up the NFC PCB to remove it

from the PSA pad.
Re-assembly Notes:
1. If the PSA pad is damaged as part of this
procedure, you will need to clean off any
remaining pad residue before installing a new
pad to replace the NFC PCB.
2. Install a new microphone filter over the
microphone located on the NFC PCB in the
location shown in the photo at right.

Also install a new ferrite backer onto the

bottom of the NFC PCB as shown below right.

6. Main / NFC PCB Removal

Note: The NFC PCB is adhered to the top of

the Main PCB by a PSA pad. If you need to
replace the Main PCB, you will need to use a
new PSA pad under the NFC PCB. Refer to
the Main Parts List for the part number.

6.1 Perform procedure 1.

6.2 Perform steps 4.2 to 4.4.

6.3 Once the top cap is removed, you can

access the Main PCB. Remove the three
screws that secure it to the enclosure.

6.4 Carefully lift up the Main PCB. On the

underside of the board, use a small tool to
release the black locking tab at the back of the
connector. Disconnect the ribbon cable and lift
off the Main PCB.

6.5 If you are replacing the Main PCB, lift off

the NFC PCB from the PSA pad. Clean any
residue off of the NFC PCB if you are going to
re-use it.
Important Re-assembly Note: when
replacing the Main PCB, be sure to set the
product color using TAP commands in order
for the product to be displayed correctly in
the Bose Music app. Perform the procedure
located on page 29 of this manual.

22
DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
7. Driver Removal

7.1 Perform procedure 4 to remove the grille.

7.2 On the bottom of the enclosure, remove

the three screws that secure the deflector
assembly. Lift off the deflector assembly.
Note: These are security screws. You will
need a security bit, Bose part number
767493-001S to remove them.

7.3 Remove the two remaining screws that

secure the driver to the enclosure. Lift out the
driver.
Important note: The gasket used on the
driver may make it difficult to easily lift out the
driver. If the driver is damaged during removal,
you will need to replace it with a new one. Do
not re-use a damaged driver.

7.4 Make a note of the wiring configuration

and remove the wires from the input terminal.
Red to + terminal
Green to center terminal
Black to - terminal

8. Power PCB / Battery Assembly Removal

8.1 Perform procedure 7 to remove the driver.

You do not need to remove the wiring harness
from the driver.

8.2 Remove the three screws located inside

the enclosure that secure the assembly.

23
DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
8.3 Remove the one additional screw located
on top of the enclosure. Slide out the Power
PCB / Battery assembly.

9. Power PCB Removal

9.1 Perform procedure 8 to remove the Power

PCB / Battery assembly.

9.2 Unsolder the driver wiring harness leads.

9.3 Unsolder the four battery connections on

the Power PCB.

9.4 Remove the two screws that secure the

PCB to the battery housing. Lift off the PCB.

10. Passive Radiator Removal

10.1 Perform procedure 4 to remove the grille.

10.2 Remove the four screws that secure the

passive radiator to the enclosure. Lift off the
passive radiator.

TERA TERM COMMAND PROMPT SETUP
Instead of using PolyComm to issue TAP commands to the SoundLink speaker, Tera Term software
(version 4.73 or above) can be used. Below are the steps required to use Tera Term to communicate with
the SoundLink speaker.

1. Place the following files into the c:\root directory of the computer.
a. hidDfu.dll
b. hidtool.exe

Note: These files can be found on the SoundLink Revolve product page on the Bose Service web site.

2. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the speaker and the large end to the computer.

3. On the computer, open the Run dialog box.

4. In the address box, type the location of the file

followed by “tap” - c:\hidtool.exe tap

5. Click OK. A window will flash by.

Note: The hidtool must be run before running

TeraTerm. If this action is not performed, TAP will
not function. The hidtool.exe file must be run before
running TAP.

6. Open Tera Term.

7. Select Serial as the new connection type and

select the Bose TAP Interface COM port.

8. Go to Setup / Serial Port and enter the COM

port settings as follows:
Baud Rate - 115,200
Data Bits - 8
Stop Bits - 1
Parity - none
Flow Control - none

9. Go back into the Setup window and select

Terminal. Check Local echo.

10. You should now have a “>” prompt where you

can enter TAP commands. If not, hit <carriage
return> a few times. See below.
