SCENE ONE: INT. FOGGY ATMOPSHERIC FIELD (LOW KEY

LIGHTING) - 5:00 PM
Play sequence of VHS/archival footage advertisement clips (use
parallel cut and overlay audio to create a chaotic effect)
PIPPA (NARRATION)

did I ever tell you the story of the chair

Cut off to clip of Pippa (close up shot) glaring into the
distance (dimly lit of a fire reflecting on her face)
PROMINANT SOUNDS OF FIRE CRACKLING AND GLAZING IN THE WIND

(SALESMAN TALKING IN ADVERTISEMENT)

did I ever tell you the story of my best friend

Cut off to clip of Pippa (close up shot) glaring into the

distance (dimly lit of a fire reflecting on her face)

PROMINANT SOUNDS OF FIRE CRACKLING AND GLAZING IN THE WIND

Continue archival chair advert clips

CUT OUT GLITCH CLIP APPROPRIATE AUDIENCES

End the archival advert clips with crowd clapping and next scene
being an archival replicant of Pippa and chair being an advert
In the advert Pippa is sat at a table with her chair being on
the other side, with green screen 80’s retro background

it's the other half of me

c'est l'autre moitié de moi
It all started March ofo97, I layed aimlessly
watching my favorite tv programme ‘Custom knight rider’
“cavalier chevalier
personnalisé”

PLAY CUSTOM KNIGHT RIDER INTRO

Pippa is sat on the floor (center framed) being projected in a
dark room by the light of the tv along with other
electronic/psychedelic visuals

It's the sort of show that's a comfort to me, an easy

watch
But that day is when I first saw it, (projector visuals switch
to different dominant color/pattern) the chair
Mais c'est ce jour-là que je l'ai vu pour la première fois, la
chaise
First on the tv, a collective of pixels, just a plain image from
a far

But then that's when I saw it again

Mais c'est à ce moment-là que je l'ai revu

Pippa is walking down Highstreet when she sees chair set up in a

red lit atmosphere amongst other furniture in a deserted street
appearing uncanny
Parallel cut shot of advertisement for chair playing on the tv,
on the left half a back POV tracking shot following Pippa until
Shes stops
Camera pans to the left to reveal the scenery of furniture
displayed in a deserted street, red lit

the real thing

la chose réelle
PLAY SEQUENCE OF STYLISED CENTRE FRAMED SHOTS
I felt safe with my chair

something I could sit on when my legs would hurt

me feraient mal
something I could place my baggage on

when my arms were so sore from the weight of life

Cut to scene of pan shot (back POV) of Pippa looking at the

chair display in isolated street

looking back, I just felt the immediate connection

A limerence
Une limerence
The sort of feeling that gave me...hope

BEGIN MONTAGE SEQEUNCE (PLAY FADE TO GREY BY VISAGE)

The montage clips include scenes of Pippa and the chair bonding
together in busy and atmospheric environments
We were the bestest of friends

Nous étions les meilleurs amis du monde

The sort of friends you'd see in movies

the sort of friends they write poems

books, monologues, memoirs about
livres, monologues, mémoires sur
You know

Tu sais
the sort of friends you’d envy
le genre d'amis que tu envierais

CONTINUING PLAYING MONTAGE CLIPS

but that didn't last long

le genre d'amis que tu envierais

Cut back to scene of Pippa laying on the ground being projected

on, the sequence from the montage plays on her television
projected onto her, she then grabs the remote and turns it off,
the room then goes pitch black
The projector then turns on to Pippa sitting at the dining table
with the chair on the other side, projected above the chair is a
hologram of the silhouette of a person
and looking back I’m glad it never did
cas

Cut off to clip of Pippa (close up shot) glaring into the

distance (dimly lit of a fire reflecting on her face
PROMINANT SOUNDS OF FIRE CRACKLING AND GLAZING IN THE WIND

You see, sometimes all things come to end

Tu vois, parfois tout a une fin
And it's not always pleasant
Et ce n'est pas toujours agréable

Pippa is putting (close up center frame POV shots), stuff into

microwave, dish washer, washing machine (transition shots of
different doors, opening and closing)

It always hurts when someone you love leaves you

As Pippa is putting something away in the dishwasher clip

changes from POV shot to close up of her head turning round, to
shot of chair in the hallway
Pippa turns back to place something in the washing machine
CONTINUE TRANSITION SHOTS
As Pippa is putting something away in the dishwasher clip
changes from POV shot to close up of her head turning round, to
shot of chair in the hallway
The third time she turns her head the chair has gone missing
But then again you question if it was meant to happen
Mais là encore, tu te demandes si c'était censé arriver

When Pippa realizes that the chair is gone the camera goes to a
canted angle of her looking shocked as a close up
Long still shot of empty hallway, dimly lit in a yellowish green
tinted light (the lighting changes when the chair is gone)

Most times I felt dependent on my chair

So I never wanted to question it

I stay in denial
Je reste dans le déni
During narration, clips of Pippa going to find the chair play,
she's put up missing posters and running around looking for it
and asking people

Shots change from chaotic running, to solemn still shot of pippa

laying in the bathtub

My chair was so important to me, it felt like a motivation in

life, a reason to maintain structure, look forward to things
At times I wanted it to exit my life, tragically get snapped in
half, thrown away, left alone, forgotten

During the narration, play shots of chair in synchrony being
broken, thrown away and pushed over
But now it had gone it don't think that's the case

but don't know what happened, I still cared

toujours

Scene in foggy field with chair and table set up appearing

abstract

I couldn't live without my chair

Pippa is running down a blue lit eerie alley to come out into a
road and continues running panting
Long shot of Pippa gradually stopping running and noticing
something in the distance

Then she sees the chair in a golden lit light

Her vision begins to blur and camera pans to other side of chair
talking to someone else
Pippa is panting in a close up shot looking solemn and
disappointed her smile from noticing the chair begins to drop to
a melancholic look

Its hard to see someone you love with someone else

d'autre

When they've moved on, your just left with your own company
entreprise
Your own thoughts
Vos propres pensées
To mourn their presence

Pour pleurer leur présence

That once meant so much

Autrefois, cela signifiait tellement

PLAY MONTAGE SEQUENCE (CONTINUE SONG OF FADE TO GREY BY VISAGE)

In montage sequence play old fisheye camcorder clips with
Pippa's best friend that was metaphorical of the chair the whole
time

Transition to shot full screen playing on screen of actual cam

corder, Pippa looking at the camcorder then closes the screen
BLACK SCREEN WITH AUDIO ONLY OF PIPPA AND HER BEST FRIEND
LAUGHING
Cut off to clip of Pippa (close up shot) glaring into the
distance (dimly lit of a fire reflecting on her face)
SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC FADES IN
Back center framed POV shot Pippa, full framed long shot,
staring at large bonfire on chairs

Did I ever tell you the story about my worst enemy
