Lick Mat

Dear
Customer
Your new lick mat is suitable for small and
medium-sized dogs and also for cats.
The lick mat stops your pet from wolfing down
their food. The action of licking can have a
calming effect and the slower intake of food
can promote better digestion.
The most important benefit, however, is that it
gives your pet something to do, keeps them busy
for longer and is generally very enjoyable for
them.

Here’s how it works:

M  Put the creamy, semi-liquid foodstuff on the
mat and press it into the depressions using a
spatula or similar.
The foodstuff must not be too runny or it will
leak, and it must also not be too dry or it will
not stick to the mat.
Food items suitable for dogs include:
liver sausage for dogs, yoghurt, baby food,
puréed wet food, puréed meat, fish, vegeta-
bles or fruit - and whatever else your dog
likes and tolerates well...
You can also freeze the filled lick mat and
present it to your dog as a cool, refreshing
summer snack.
Dairy products and frozen food are not rec-
ommended for cats.
Food items suitable for cats include:
liver sausage for cats, puréed wet food,
meat or fish, special pastes – and whatever
else your cat likes and tolerates well...
However, it is important to try to use food
that contains as little spice/seasoning as pos-
sible and that does not contain unnecessary
salt or sugar. If in doubt, ask your vet or
breeder which types of food are suitable for
your pet.
You should also keep in mind that every
animal can have their own individual food
intolerances. For example, dogs can also be
sensitive to food that is too cold or to dairy
products.
M  When you first start using the lick mat, start
with a small portion of food to allow your pet
to get used to eating from the lick mat.
Caution: Your pet may try to get to the food
using their teeth or may show a general ten-
dency to chew the mat.
If this happens, distract your pet and take the
mat away. Try again later and praise your pet
when they lick the mat with their tongue.
