Wherein:
J - 2nd Polar Moment of Inertia (mm4)
d - Diameter (mm)
τ - Shear Stress (MPa)
T - Torque (N-mm)
r - Radius (mm)

By Definition:
2nd Polar Moment of Inertia
The 2nd polar moment (of inertia) is a
quantity used to describe resistance to
torsional deformation (deflection), in
cylindrical (or non-cylindrical) objects.
Torque
It is a measure of the force that can cause an
object to rotate about an axis. It can be
represented as the vector product of force
and position vector.
Torsional Stress
2. Angle of Twist θ rad/unit length 3. Torsional Stiffness

The angle of twist can be defined as

the angular deformation in an object
due to a couple of twisting torques.

Torsional stiffness is defined as the torque

required to produce unit angle of twist.
