Read Engine Parameters
The read engine parameters panel allows for the technician to monitor engine ECU parameters in real-
time and plot them on a graph for diagnostic purposes. The user may select any number of parameters to
be monitored from a list. The sample rate and number samples collected will depend on the number of
parameters being monitored. In most cases the preferred method is to select the fastest sampling rate
and allow the system to determine the actual sampling rate.

While running the routine the real-time measured values of the parameters are plotted on a graph. The
plotting of new data points may be paused at any time to allow for closer inspection of the data by
panning left to right and scaling the plot (Figure 7). The data is not lost while pausing but rather continues
to be stored and available when the user resumes. The user may select which parameters are to
displayed or hidden on the plot while the system continues to capture all parameters. The user may stop
the reading of parameters at any time by tapping on the stop button. The measurements captured thus far
will not be lost but rather they will be collected into a downloadable report.

3 Urea Dosing Tests
The urea dosing tests are routines that are run by the
engine ECU which may be used to diagnose and resolve
issues with the after treatment system (Figure 8). Four
different tests are provided which are described in more
detail in the sections that follow.

While running any of the test routines measurements are

collected for the pressure sensor, dosing valve, pump
control and reverting valve. The data are plotted on a
graph for analysis by a qualified technician.

Each test routine provides a pass or fail result or

indication what prevented the test from being run.

The results and measurement data captured are placed

into reports which the user may view or download on to
their mobile device.

UDST (Urea Dosing System Test)
Description
The Urea Dosing System Test is an automated procedure to check the overall DEF system for the
following information:
 Overall DEF system health
 Def pump performance
 System air ingression
 DEF injector functionality
 Reverting valve functionality

Warning
Do not carry out more than two consecutive UDST procedures. If it is necessary to carry out more testing,
the machine must first be run until the catalyst working temperature is reached. This can be determined
by monitoring the actual dosing quantity until it is greater than zero in normal operation for at least 10
minutes.

Preparation
Before the test may be run a short preliminary visual check must be made for excessive urea leakage or
crystallization, disconnected or damaged hoses. The software requests that the technician performs
these checks prior to running the test.

Start Test Conditions

The test will not be run if the engine is running or if the starting conditions are not met. Conditions which
may inhibit the test from running are:
 Active fault codes
 Low DEF tank level
 Low battery voltage
 Engine is running
 Exhaust temperature upstream is too high
 Urea dosing system is in de-freezing mode

Results
Once the test routine is completed after no more than 2 min 40 sec the system will evaluate the results
and produce a pass or fail result. The reasons for any failure are provided. The plot of the measured
parameters are presented to the user in a viewer, stored on the telematics module and available for
download to forward to Tigercat for support.

LogOn™ Technician’s Engine Diagnostics Supplement Version 1.1 Page 9

Running the Test
To start the UDST test routine tap on the play button below the previous results panel. Follow the
instructions displayed. The instructions guide the technician through the sequence described in Figure 11.

Figure 11

UDPC (Urea Dosing Pump Check)

The Urea Dosing Pump Check is an automated procedure to check the DEF system for issues on the
supply side of the dosing system. It can provide the following information:
 Pump specific health
 Filter health
 Pump inlet conditions
 Pump outlet conditions
 Filter health

Warning
Follow all directions prior to running UDPC. Unless directed otherwise always remove the dosing module
from the exhaust prior to executing the procedure.

Preparation
Before the test may be run a short preliminary visual check must be made for excessive urea leakage,
disconnected fittings or damaged hoses. The software requests that the technician performs these
checks prior to running the procedure. Next the dosing module needs to be dismounted from the exhaust
pipe. After doing so the nozzle tip and dosing module flange needs to be checked for deposits and
removed with water if found.

Start Test Conditions

The test will not be run if the engine is running or if starting conditions are not met. Conditions which may
inhibit the test from running are:
 Active fault codes
 Low DEF tank level
 Low battery voltage
 Engine is running

LogOn™ Technician’s Engine Diagnostics Supplement Version 1.1 Page 10

Results
Once the test routine is completed typically within 7 minutes the system will evaluate the results and
produce a pass or fail result. The reasons for any failure are provided. The plot of the measured
parameters are presented to the user in a viewer, stored on the telematics module and available for
download to forward to Tigercat for support.

Running the Test

To start the UDPC test routine tap on the play button below the previous results panel. Follow the
instructions displayed. The instructions guide the technician through the sequence described in Figure 12.

Figure 12

UDLC (Urea Dosing Leakage Check)

Description
The Urea Dosing Leakage Check is a procedure that performs a DEF pressure build up and stays
pressurized for a certain time. At this time the technician visually checks the dosing system for urea
leakages. DEF injection is not active during the test.

LogOn™ Technician’s Engine Diagnostics Supplement Version 1.1 Page 11

Preparation
Before the test may be run a short preliminary visual check must be made for excessive urea leakage,
disconnected fittings or damaged hoses. The software requests that the technician performs these
checks, prior to running the test.

Start Test Conditions

The test will not be run if the engine is running or if starting conditions are not met. Conditions which may
inhibit the test from running are:
 Active fault codes
 Low DEF tank level
 Low battery voltage
 Engine is running

Results
Once the test run completes the system will plot the measurements collected. The technician is
questioned if any leaks were observed in order to record if the test passed or failed. The plot of the
measured parameters are presented to the user in a viewer, stored on the telematics module and
available for download to forward to Tigercat for support.

Running the Test

To start the UDLC test routine tap on the play button below the previous results panel. Follow the
instructions displayed. The instructions guide the technician through the sequence described in Figure 13.

Figure 13

UDVC (Urea Dosing Volume Check)
Description
The Urea Dosing Valve Check is an automated procedure that checks the injection quantity of the dosing
system by dismounting the dosing module and spraying into a measuring cup. The amount of injected
DEF should be within +/- 10% of the nominal value (Table 1).

Table 1

Total Quantity [g] Total Volume [mL]

Injection Time [s]
Minimum Nominal Maximum Minimum Nominal Maximum

180 315 350 385 289 321 353

Warning
Do not return the DEF fluid into the tank as it may be contaminated from its collection.

Preparation
Before the test may be run a short preliminary visual check must be made for excessive urea leakage,
disconnected fittings or damaged hoses. The software requests that the technician performs these
checks prior to running the test. Next the dosing module needs to be dismounted from the exhaust pipe.
After doing so the nozzle tip and dosing module flange needs to be checked for deposits and cleaned
with water to remove them. Finally the technician must collect the DEF fluid in a container and have a
means to measure its volume or mass.

Start Test Conditions

The test will not be run if the engine is running or if starting conditions are not met. Conditions which may
inhibit the test from running are:
 Active fault codes
 Low DEF tank level
 Low battery voltage
 Engine is running

Results
The test injects DEF fluid which the technician is responsible for collecting and measuring. The system
will ask the technician to enter the measured weight or volume of the DEF collected which the LogOn
system will evaluate to determine if the test passed or failed. The plot of the measured parameters are
presented to the user in a viewer, stored on the telematics module and available for download to forward
to Tigercat for support.
