Torpor:
u drowsiness, partial shutdown of consciousness with
the saved verbal contact against the background of
increased perception of all external stimulus and a
reduce their own activity.
u Leading diagnostic symptom: partial (or full
desorientation) in place, time, situation; deep
drowsiness, delayed execution of commands (from
simple to complex ).
Sopor.
– switching off the consciousness with absence of verbal contact at
resistens of the coordinated protective reactions to pain irritations.
u No contact. Does not execute commands. Immobility or automated reflex
movements. Coordinated protective movements on pain stimulation. An
unconscious eyes opening to pain, to sudden loud sound. All the reflexes
are saved. Sphincter control disorders. Vital functions are preserved.
u Leading diagnostic symptoms: total failure of the commands, coordinated
protective movements.
Coma I.
u Comа I level – moderate.
u "Undisturbed." A protective response is not coordinated, not
focused on elimination of the irritant. No eyes opening to pain.
Pupillary and corneal reflexes preserved. Abdominal reflexes are
depressed. Reflexes are more often elevated. Pathological
reflexes appear. Difficulties with swallowing. Sphincter control is
disrupted. Breathing and cardiovascular activity are relatively
stable, without severe deviations.
Coma II.
u Coma II level – deep
u13-14 – torpor,
u9-12 – sopor,
u4-8 – coma,
u3 – brain death.
